Final Harmonious barges removed from World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT

EPCOT's World Showcase Lagoon is now free of all the Harmonious show platform barges.

Last night, the final two taco-shaped barges from Harmonious were removed from the lagoon and moved backstage to begin demolition.

With Harmonious now completely cleared, work can continue preparing the lagoon for the new show debuting later this year.

While Disney has not shared any specific details on the hardware configuration, we expect the new show to be much simpler than Harmonious, comprised chiefly of fireworks and lighting effects. No barges are planned to be left out of the lagoon, with the hardware expected to be brought out in the afternoon ahead of the evening's performance.

When did they add more to do?

Epcot always closed at 9pm when I was going in the 00s and 10s, with most of Future World closing at 7. But as they have added more to do, it seems logical to extend the hours. I don't really get it.

I also don’t remember Epcot closing at 9:30 pm last year either except during Festival of the Holidays because of Candlelight. There has been few exceptions IIRC.

SSE and the gardens lighting cycles between the 3 or 4 main "always on" color schemes after, but I haven't seen a beacons show post-fireworks in quite a while.

It’s absolutely absurd we can’t enjoy more park hours at night. Hollywood had a few solid weeks of 10 pm closings but it killed that too. It feels like Epcot lighting packages still runs post closing at least. I don’t know if the beacons still run though to be honest.

The lack of longer night hours for Epcot during the summer is a personal sore point, especially with the incredible SSE lighting package now. I don't know exactly when they stopped doing the shows after Harmonious/Luminous, but currently it's dark enough for only 3 shows prior to Luminous starting, and then nothing, really, afterwards. It's dark enough for Luminous, just barely, but it would still be nice to get at least another half hour or so of enjoying the park actually open and alive after dark with all the lighting additions they made.

Well, sunset starts moving up again in a few days at least. They should really delay it 15 min in June and July, though. It’s dark by 9 in August. It does stink that only deluxe resort guests or DAH ticket holders can see Epcot at night…

I was there Wednesday. Seeing it at twilight where it basically got dark during the show was kinda cool. Though I've admittedly seen the show a few times before. Not sure if it's would be as good for a first viewing.

Good to know.

It's really not bad in person. Cameras tend to overexpose the twilight sky.

So they're just going to run it while it's basically still light out?

It is stuck at 9pm all summer unfortunately.

The added pyro in the finale is very impressive. It already was great but they took it up another level.

I remember seeing Harm/Epcot at 9:30 during the summer... are they not doing that this year? Park would close at 9 back then still, but are they just cutting costs this year?
