First look at EPCOT's new nighttime firework spectacular show barges backstage

New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct offer a first look at the new firework platform barges for the upcoming unnamed nighttime spectacular at EPCOT.

As work progresses in World Showcase Lagoon on preparing docking points for the new barges backstage, work is well underway on prepping the new platforms.

Based on the concept art and work in the lagoon, we expect to see a central barge in World Showcase Lagoon surrounded by six large central "fork" barges pictured above in the aerial photo. Each of the fork barges will have three smaller individual barges docked inside the fork to deploy out in the lagoon - radiating outwards like spokes in a wheel when viewed overhead. Each barge will carry lighting and pyrotechnics.

Storing the three smaller barges inside the fork of each of the larger barges will make it much easier to logistically move the platforms from backstage to the lagoon each day. Unlike Harmonious, the new show will have minimal daytime intrusion of the lagoon view, with hardware being brought in and out of the lagoon before each performance.

In the few details that have been released, Disney says that the show will feature lights, lasers, and fireworks. We do not expect to see drones or video projections. Fire effects and fountains remain a possibility but are not confirmed.

Disney has previously said that the show will feature an original composition and evocative selections from the Disney songbook – all woven together to remind us that we are more alike than different. Some fans may be concerned that this show is heading in a similar direction to Harmonious, but as more details are released in the coming months, we expect a positive outlook on the soundtrack.

The new show will be the permanent replacement for Harmonious, which came to a close at the end of March 2023. EPCOT Forever continues to play as an interim show while the new show is developed for its debut later in 2023.

Typically the "Luminous will begin in a few minutes" is about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes before 9 with the drum circle starting as soon as the announcement is done. Then at 9 the torches are out, barges go live, actual show start.

Absolutely Amazing stunning shot because I thought Spaceship Earth lights especially this color would be turned off during Luminous fireworks.

And the barges turn blue at 9?

Starship8246 hours ago

Yeah it usually starts at around 8:58 and the show starts 8:59, although that's From watching live streams so there's bit of a delay so that's probably not entirely accurate.

Drum intro starts about 2 minute prior to the barges turning blue.

Hey guys weird question but I'm gonna be watching EPCOT fireworks from somewhere that doesn't play the music and I want to sync up one on my phone. Does the drum intro or the first firework happen at 9:00? Which part specifically starts at 9?

All those people facing the wrong way missed a hidden Mickey in profile! Cool shot!

A random Luminous shot from an unusual angle.

It would have looked cool to have search lights all over Epcot to go along with Luminous. Off topic I hope the new lighting package for MK parade, if it happens, will be similar with searchlights on top of the buildings.

I believe it is an every night thing. From my understanding, media visited DS last night.

Off Topic but will we see these every night? Or were they just turned on for Media? Why is Commmunicore the only Area in World Celebration with Searchlights?

Looks like a missed opportunity for corporate synergy®

Yeah I wasn't there either, only watching from videos. It looks like it was unrelated which I agree is a massive wasted opportunity, if they don't want to program the lights to go along with the show then at least play the music, the show interacts with SSE and you can easily see the fireworks from there anyway.

If you mean these, it seemed unrelated tonight:
