Crews have been busy building a new project office compound for Walt Disney Imagineering in an area along the former STOLport (Short Take Off and Landing airport) land near to the Magic Kingdom. The site already includes offices for what we believe are contractors working on the Fantasyland project, and has now been significantly extended with the addition of two new buildings for WDI. Look closely at the photos below and you will even see Sorcerer Mickey himself on the exterior as the logo for WDI.  While there is no doubt these buildings are for WDI, it does raise the question as to which project these buildings are to serve.

We know that WDI have project offices onsite in the Magic Kingdom for Fantasyland, so it would seem unlikely that they would require more space outside of that location so late into the project, but as work turns to theming, it may be that more WDI facilities are required. The next possibility then presents itself as perhaps the buildings are to serve the rumored DVC Villas at the Grand Floridian Resort.  The location is very close to the Grand Floridian, and as space is relatively tight in that area, this would be a good alternative.  Then of course we have the Downtown Disney redevelopment, which is expected to begin work sooner rather than later.  Perhaps they could even be mixed use buildings, serving a number of projects.  Either way, the expansion of Walt Disney Imagineering at walt Disney World can only mean one thing, something is about to be built.

In the photos below we have a look at the new buildings, along with the existing contractor offices that have been in this area for a few years now.
