Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser will officially launch in 2022 at Walt Disney World Resort and guests staying there will be among the first to use the new lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser invites guests into a new kind of “storyliving” as they travel the galaxy in style aboard the glamorous Halcyon starcruiser, known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. They will stay in well-appointed cabins, experience exquisite dining and out-of-this-world entertainment, visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and much more.

Throughout the journey, guests’ choices will determine their personal adventures by interacting with characters, crew and other passengers they meet as they become part of the action and the broader Star Wars saga. Decisions guests make will determine how their individual stories unfold as they seize control of their destinies – and potentially impact the fate of the galaxy.

Launch from Walt Disney World Resort

The adventure begins when guests arrive at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser terminal at Walt Disney World and check in for their two-night experience.

Guests will enter a Launch Pod to begin their Star Wars Through windows above, they’ll see themselves leave their world behind as they jump into hyperspace and draw closer and closer to the massive and magnificent Halcyon starcruiser.

When the Launch Pod docks with the starcruiser and the airlock opens, guests will step into the ship’s main deck Atrium to begin their journey through a galaxy far, far away.

An All-Immersive Experience

A visit aboard the Halcyon starcruiser plunges guests into a multi-day, interactive story that interweaves with members of the crew, other passengers, familiar Star Wars characters and others. Guests may encounter the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, the ship’s plucky mechanic, heroes of the Resistance or many more as they choose alliances and chart their courses.

The all-immersive experience features enthralling onboard activities, such as:

  • Learning the ancient ways of the lightsaber and facing off against a training remote, where guests may discover their own connection with the Force.

  • Visiting the starcruiser’s Bridge to learn about its systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense – skills that may come in handy during a journey through this adventure-filled galaxy.

  • Guests will find refreshment each day in an enticing supper club known as the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. This bright and welcoming hall will offer breakfast and lunch daily to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.
  • One night’s dinner will feature a live performance from a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of her jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.

  • The journey also includes an excursion to Batuu, where guests can explore the winding pathways of Black Spire Outpost and seek out a hidden Resistance base.

Fun Facts – Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

  • Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser guests will be the first to see characters like Rey wield a brand-new, more realistic lightsaber designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development to create dramatic in-person moments previously only seen in films or shows.
  • Every window in the Halcyon starcruiser – including those in each cabin – has a view of the galaxy beyond, with ever-changing vistas as the ship progresses from destination to destination.
  • Guests will be able to explore the starcruiser and perhaps discover hidden spaces deep in the mechanics of the ship – perfect for uncovering secrets … or holding clandestine meetings.
  • The Crown of Corellia Dining Room is named for Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for the shipyards that created not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the famed Millennium Falcon.

I’m not sure about that. I’ve been a huge fan of Disney’s newer rides- BATB (Tokyo), MMRR, Remmy, Slinky. I’ve also been a fan of newer shows- Luminous and others. People just generally just aren’t a fan of cheaply or badly made content. Harmonius had the barges that ruined sight lines, Enchanment was simply inferior to its predecessor, and most of the recent Marvel duds just haven’t had good stories. Some similarly unperforming works made in the past included Treasure Island, Pearl Harbor, and Chicken Little. Disney also completely screwed up figuring out how big a market of cosplayers actually was and the financing required to make a cosplay hotel profitable, but made similar mistakes in the past with things like Disney Quest and Club Disney. Basically-every time Disney gets cheap and starts to forget basic storytelling they get burned. It’s not new, and it wont be the last time.

For whatever reason I don't understand, I feel there's been a breakdown in understanding what normal people actually want. In both attractions and film/TV. It's being lead by people detached from the customer base, making misguided decisions on them. So many things seem like they're the nonsense someone studying marketing in College would be saying to justify their bad idea in a paper. "As seen in very popular TV shows The Big Bang Theory, larping is a common activity amongst fans of science fiction. In particular Star Wars."

Josh was right in blaming the guest. The plain fact of the matter is that most of the Disney attractions are very mediocre and poor entertainment. IASW, CBJ, Tiki Room, all the many spinners, JC, Tea Cups, Tomorrowland Speedway to name but a few, pack in the guests with very long wait times. Disney has no reason to provide quality attractions when the existing poor attractions make a huge profit and guests are willing to pay more and more every year for the same low quality junk.

Exactly. When hour-long YouTube videos are uploaded the day of the first "cruise", there is no mystery to what the "intergalactic" line dancing, Playskool lightsabers, and "spacey" cafeteria experiences are offering. He WISHES it was 1985 and they could get a couple good years out of it before everybody caught on to what it actually was - this concept suffered from too much customer knowledge.

At my most gracious, I could say that Josh D'Amaro was trying to publicly defend his team that had a failed product. But his phrasing wasn't good. He blamed the customers for being too dumb to get it, even though 2020's customers had easy and unprecedented access to information about this expensive product; splashy corporate websites, long YouTube videos from Disney and other customers, pro and amateur podcasts, Tripadvisor reviews, blogs, etc., etc. It's not 1985 and the only way to advertise the Galactic Starcruiser was via 30 second TV ads and a brochure rack at your local travel agency. Dear Mr. D'Amaro: Your savvy and upscale customers had easy and instant access to thousands of pieces of information about the Galactic Starcruiser. They aren't dumb people. They made their decisions on this product on purpose.

Yes, but the new storyline will be a Wookie convention on the ship, but, due to a mix-up, mostly Ewoks show up.

That’s it, I’m getting a DNR/DNR order - do not resuscitate/do not remove…until all dead. Chances are it won’t happen in a Disney Park, but it’s worth a shot to possibly become the first person to ever “die” in one…!!!!! :hilarious:

So you're saying there's a chance the Galactic Starcruiser will reopen, with new marketing?

When is "It was difficult to explain to the public" The same thing as "The public had difficulty understanding"?

Cliff14 days ago

You will rarely see Disney ever admit they were wrong or made a mistake....it's just not in their corporate culture. Y'know...for the longest time, Disney did not like to even admit that people die in the parks. If paramedics were rushing a body out of Walt Disney World, the company asked them to continue CPR on the body and only log the official time of death only "after" they left Disney property. This is how the company thinks and it's how they believe in themselves. I strongly believe this strange Disney cult mentality is just as deep in executive management now as it is in the lowly fans. Disney is hubris and arrogant to absolute extreme levels. Disney does not fail....it's we, the fans that do. This is the upper company's creative culture today.... It's FINALLY time for the company to learn how to get HUMBLE now.

Surely it was supposed to be a voyage on a luxury ship. I mean Princess Leia voyaged on it for her honeymoon. To me, that was also one of the issues. When you think of yourself living in Star Wars you wouldn’t usually think of a luxury experience. I am glad they tried it. I just wish they’d be more real about why it wasn’t a success.
