The newly refurbished children's activity center at Disney's Polynesian Resort will be opening to guests on June 17 2014.

Formerly known as the 'Never Land Club,' the new activity center is inspired by classic Disney Little Golden Books. Children will be able to take part in crafts, dress-up and story time. The Never Land Club closed in early January 2014 to begin the refurbishment.

Reservations can be made now for June 17 2014 and onwards by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

That's likely the reason for the change. It does sound like a possible adult area.

"Club Disney" "Disney Club" (or whatever) was just too generic. It sounds like a bar. Lilo's Playhouse at least implies a kids area IMO.

Attendance must have REALLY dropped off. Amusing. Don't fix what ain't broken!

Well "Lilo's Playhouse" is certainly more in keeping with the theme of the resort, though it is a less beloved franchise compared to Peter Pan. Will the decor match the name?

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort children's activity center to be renamed this week

That's sadthey didn't go all out in the themeing of the new redesigned club...

Lou Mongello has just posted a video on WDWradio site that includes video of the new Disney Club. Frankly, it's a very sterile space that really looks like it was done for as little money as they could get away with. Mostly flat paintings on walls with flat screen TVs on one wall and several little stools in front of them. A small castle facade is there but it's not like a playhouse. No Polynesian theme at all. It's way less than the Neverland Club. The only people at the presentation the also describes redesign of the grounds are Tom Wolber SVP of Resorts and Transportation and Debbie Peterson the Imagineer. Notably missing is Norm Noble the resort's manager or any other Poly people at all. Certainly fits what I've heard that all of this is being forced on the Poly rather than something they wanted. Certainly does not bode well for the resort.

R they gonna end up overhauling the resort to look more like Aulani? That's the impression I'm getting...

PolydwellerMay 15, 2014

I really don't know how accurate what I'm hearing is. What I get can be somewhat off. Some things will be improvement and I do like the lobby changes but I'm not as optimistic about the Poly as a whole.

Looks like it. I heard from a contact today that the Hawaiian/Polynesian theme is gone or at least very downplayed.

I hope you are right Steve.

I just booked it today for August. I am a little bummed it not The Neverland Club anymore. I already hyped the Peter Pan aspect up to my son and nephew. Oh well, hopefully it will still be entertaining to two 7 year olds.

It's a kids club. Will kids like it?
