Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment picked up three awards at the Themed Entertainment Association Awards Gala this past weekend at Disneyland.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was recognized with a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in Brand Experience, “Main Street Electrical Parade” received the Thea Classic Award, recognizing an experience that has stood the test of time, and Disney Live Entertainment Creative Director Susana Tubert received the Thea Catalyst Award, reserved for an individual who has achieved a real and positive impact on the culture of the themed entertainment industry.

Members of Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment were at the gala in person to collect the awards, including Ann Morrow Johnson and Scott Trowbridge for Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser and Susana Tubert for the Thea Catalyst Award.

"I'm so proud of our teams who continue to delight our guests and consumers by pushing industry boundaries," said Josh D'Amaro, chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. "These accolades illustrate our legacy of innovation, as evidenced by projects that opened 50 years apart being awarded together."

You can attend in the future if you get a party ticket from OI. great time, good food and no waits. Pterodon Flyers is my highlight

I think tonight is one of the Orlando Informer buyouts

We saw attendees streaming into Universal around 8pm last night. My husband who has never worked a corporate job, couldn't believe how many people he was seeing 😂. I'm assuming they rent it out for attendees? We were saying how cool it would be to ride VC at night (which side note was the scariest coaster we've both ever been on).

Disney doesn’t deserve those awards in the current state they’re in!

Opened this thread to see what it was all about and walked into a pixie dust hurricane. The fact that anyone defends the Galactic Fail Cruiser is beyond me.

You've never heard of a critically acclaimed film that did badly at the box office? Or a genius artist whose talents weren't recognised in their own lifetime? It's hardly a difficult concept to wrap your head around; there are many (non-Disney) examples out there of high-quality products that, for some reason or other, don't attract as many consumers as they otherwise might. And in this instance, the reason is no mystery: the price point is prohibitive.

That to qualifies as a failure.

@lazyboy97o can hardly be called a defender of today's Disney. His point is very specific and pretty difficult to refute: quality and popularity aren't necessarily correlated. To me, the experience looks amazing, and the positive reviews speak to that. The only thing that would keep me away is the price point.

MagicHappens1971Nov 19, 2022

I have good friends that work there and would say that it’s closer to 50% occupancy with some dates being closer to 75-100% so it just depends

co10064Nov 19, 2022

The fact is that the experience is overpriced. I am shocked they haven't budged on the price point yet.

Tbh I never know what's true nowadays there so much sensationalism out there.

MagicHappens1971Nov 19, 2022

From what I hear, the 25% number isn’t accurate and the staffing cuts are only effecting F&B Servers

Model3 McQueenNov 19, 2022

what about the reported voyager staff cuts and 25% occupancy (from site that shall not be named)? Out of 100 rooms, those arent signs of success I imagine.
