The Disney operated BoardWalk Ice Cream will open today in place of the former Ample Hills Creamery on the BoardWalk.

Expect minimal changes on the interior from the Ample Hills era, and a new menu that is similar to Beaches and Cream on the other side of the lake. This unfortunately means no specialty ice cream like we saw at Ample Hills, and the menu will likely be based on Edy's Ice Cream.

Operating hours are 3pm to 10pm weekdays, and 12pm to 10pm Saturday and Sunday. BoardWalk Ice Cream is closed all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Just the one AFAIK.

Do you know if there will only be the one location at Springs or will they also take over the former Ample Hills at BW too?

MansionButler84Jun 21, 2021

Was wondering when they’d announce.

TrainChasersJun 21, 2021

Yess!!!! Best news yet!!!! Pretty much the same price as France. Salt & Straw = single scoop $6 double scoop = $8 L’Artisan des Glaces = Single = $5.75 Double scoop = $7.95 While it’s true that Salt & Straw have some exotic flavors, they go down in extremes to very vanilla flavors like... vanilla! (Speaking of puns... bring back citizens of Hollywood - I want puns AND ice cream!)

Ooh!!!! I’ve been to the Salt and Straw at Downtown Disney at DL. Pricey and they have some weird flavor combos but their ice cream IS good (I had salted caramel and it was tasty). Based on their replies to some of the IG comments it looks like they’re coming to Disney Springs!

Looks like Salt and Straw may actually be coming to WDW after all. Maybe they’ll be located in the space in DS that was originally going to be for Ample Hills?

Gelato and ice cream, although similar, are not exactly the same, that's why I didn't compare Ghirardelli's ice cream with Vivoli's gelato. To me, gelato in Italy isn't better, it's simply the best. I should know. ;) Agree with 'nothing wrong with feeling differently'. :)

UNCgolfMay 22, 2021

It wasn't the best gelato I've ever had either (had better in actual Italy) but it might be the best I've had in the US and was easily the best ice cream/gelato I've had at Disney. I don't think $1 more than Ghirardelli for roughly the same amount is too overpriced, but nothing wrong with feeling differently!

We didn’t bother last night as the line went past ESPN around 8pm. Seemed crazy popular but I can’t tell if that’s more due to there being no other options lol

The more you pay for food, the smaller it gets.

NunuMay 21, 2021

The gelato "portion" I got at that time was sad, gone in 3 or 4 teaspoons! 😄 It was good, just not the best gelato I've ever had. Still think it's overpriced, even for Disney.

UNCgolfMay 21, 2021

Well, it's in Disney Springs (and at Disney overall) so you have to expect the markup. A single scoop at Ghirardelli is $6 and one at Vivoli is $7 -- I'd rather pay that price for Vivoli. Not that Ghirardelli's ice cream is bad; I just think the gelato at Vivoli is a lot better.

NunuMay 21, 2021

I liked Vivoli, but $6 for a tiny, sample size cup, seemed overpriced to me.

I didn't say I didn't like it. I even said better than expected. I'm adventurous so I tried it but of course I would not buy it on a regular basis.
