More hardware for the upcoming Luminous nighttime spectacular took to World Showcase lagoon last night for systems tests as preparations for the December 5 debut continue.

Two of the barges were out in the lagoon, complete with six mini firework barges transported inside the main barges. Note that unlike Harmonious, Luminous hardware will be moved out of the lagoon during the daytime.

Luminous features a large number of barges, with six main central platforms, each containing multiple smaller barges that will deploy out in a spoke design.

Don't expect to see any full-scale rehearsals for the show just yet. Crews need to work through the new hardware setup and conduct tests on individual systems and pyro products.

"Luminous The Symphony of Us" will officially debut to guests on December 5 at EPCOT in Walt Disney World. The new show is the long-term replacement for Harmonious and the interim EPCOT Forever show.

Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle recently said that Luminous will be a "Brand new show filled with fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects. Fabulous Disney music. Luminous is going to touch your heart. And it's going to continue our long tradition of amazing nighttime entertainment EPCOT. I cannot wait for you to see it."

It's been a long time (back to the RoE days) since this area has been blocked off. I think the nail in the coffin was when that misfire happened during Peace on Earth in 2018 that sent pyro hurtling toward the audience.

I really like how there's barely any spoilers to this show other than the songs. No live stream as well from Disney. I remember watching the live stream for the premiere of Harmonious and the chats were brutal. The reception will most likely be the same for this (mixed) but I would prefer to just surprise us.

It is a IP infused show, kind of following the recent trend of a original soundtrack in the beginning & ending with IP sandwiched between.

I will judge it for myself tomorrow once the vids come in. I really want to be excited and happy but if the rumors are true and it's another IP-fest rather than a true successor to Reflections of Earth. I am probably going to be disappointed.

They weren't noticeable in the recent tests though, Illuminations & Hollywood Studios flames used to light up the sky, makes me wonder if they were cut while in the programming phase after Disneyland did rapid demolition.

I kinda loved the lighting designer who clearly had no time for and wanted nothing to do with the video. Everyone in these videos is always so saccharine, and he was like "We've got a ton of lights. And computers. And barges. None of them work, I'm very busy, please leave."
