Disney has announced that its Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort will officially transform into Pixar Place Hotel on January 30, 2024.

Disney says that Pixar Place Hotel will evoke the inspiration and humor that goes into every Pixar film while celebrating the artistic process.

The lobby will showcase early sketches to finished design, the art and decor will highlight vibrant Pixar stories, revealing some never-before-seen artwork.

Guests arriving at the lobby will be greeted by the iconic Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball, with an imaginative mobile of beloved Pixar characters floating from the bright skylight above. The mobile will depict the beginning stages of Pixar filmmaking, when animators create the characters’ designs with their most basic shapes and colors. The characters you’ll see are at the beginning of their journey, just as the guests who step into the lobby begin their own story at the Disneyland Resort.

From pillows inspired by the Pixar Ball to lighting reminiscent of the Pixar Lamp, there will be whimsical nods to the iconic animation studio throughout the new guest rooms. Pixar Animation Studios artists created some of the art, especially for Pixar Place Hotel. The headboards will consist of concept art from various Pixar features, including “The Incredibles,” “Toy Story 3” and more that are arranged in order from warm to cool colors, sharing the importance of color to the tone of a scene.

Agreed. In the 1980's to get UV resistance of any kind you had to apply a dark tint to windows. But now with modern technology, you can get windows that are 99% UV resistant and vastly better at heat transfer and sound deadening that have no real discernible tint to allow nature's beauty to shine through crystal clear. And yes, I remember that little speech from the perky and very knowledgeable hostess who showed me around the model home last year in my new community. ;)

It's a cleaner look for sure.

Apparently the lobby is pretty much done. I found this photo from two weeks ago, showing a construction elevator installed and the top few floors now undergoing room refurbishments. They are replacing the windows in all the rooms it seems. Probably an overdue upgrade since those windows are 40 years old and window technology has improved greatly the past 20 years for UV and heat reflectivity, and also sound deadening.

Any new updates on how this is coming along? Funny how we had a d23 event this past weekend but not a peep about this hotel transformation.

That was a perfect laugh for a Friday afternoon. Thank you my dear, and I hope you have a fabulous weekend. 🤣 🤣 🤣

In my random searching, several sites (who may all be using the same source) say that Disney bought the hotel in 1995 from the Tokyu Group. Haven't found anything unusual. It's all like ..."Disney finally purchased the hotel and all the surrounding land in 1995 and renamed it Disneyland Pacific Hotel. " ... https://touringplans.com/blog/exploring-disneys-paradise-pier-hotel/ I agree the rumors are in the same category as Walt's frozen head, which I used to tell guests was in the back walk-in at the Fritos restaurant if they asked. If I get bored I may try the OC Recorder site.

Circumstantial evidence. Still doesn't prove the Hotel is owned by third party.

Those properties were excluded from the existing Disneyland Resort Specific Plan because Disney did not own them at the time it was created. They are now seeking to have those properties included in Disneyland Forward. Having to go through the development review process and not getting approval was a big motivating factor behind seeking an updated, more encompassing zoning arrangement for all of the property Disney currently owns.

This is like saying the trash can by the Astro Orbitor was moved therefore new Tomorrowland. Why did they exclude the immigration office and the carousel inn? Taxes? Laws? Different internal departments? TDA incompetence? Who knows? That doesn't mean a mysterious Japanese investment group has control over it.

Then why exclude that parcel from the same zoning designations as everything? Disney wants the freedom to develop all of their land in Anaheim largely as they see fit except this one little square because why?
