Permits filed for Set Installation at Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

May 13, 2020 in "Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser"

Although construction has mostly come to a halt at Walt Disney World, permits continue to be approved, with the latest being for Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

The permit is for "Fabrication and Installation of Sets" and was signed May 13 2020, valid through to late January 2022. Of course, this does not indicate imminent start of work, and it isn't clear on the timeline of when the permit was applied for.

The contractor is Adirondack Scenic, who has done previous work for Disney including Frozen Ever After, Na'Vi River Journey and Morimoto Asia.

Disney had previously announced Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will open in 2021 following reservations beginning in 2020 - but that timeline has now very likely shifted as a result of COVID-19.

Oh I see applications for CM's acting out scenes, cosplay etc. but definitely not to be actually practicing any kind of contact combative.

Possibly like the potter wands it's only meant for some level of environmental interactivity (either only on starcruiser or that + GE) rather than whacking at other blades and such.

That blade furls and unfurls like a metal blind slat. No way it can be strong enough to withstand any blow and still function

I believe it will least through more than one swipe, but, if it too well constructed and lasts that will impact sales volume.

Be interesting if this is a commercial product (a la savi's sabers or potter wands) or simply for cast 'shows' and the starcruiser experience.

Yeah, one swipe and this is expensive space junk. Not for kids big or small I think

I wonder what the 'blade' is composed of to coil yet have rigidity.

No one cares about hashtags on a forum... but we do care about links to further reading. I know I could search for it... but I would hope instead of working up so many hashtags, you'd actually supply USEFUL elements that you already had.

It's innovative. It's creative. It has OOOH AAAH factor. I want to see the price tag on the production model.

6 hashtags, but no link to the patent? Figures

#Lightsaber announced yesterday by @joshdamaro @DisneyParks is probably the one #Disney filed a patent for back in 2017. Most likely for the Dojo experience at the #GalacticStarcruiser at #GalaxysEdge #Batuu East. Might be for stunt performers as well. 546704546705546706

Apparently Josh D'Amaro ignited a real-looking lightsaber at the end of his preso today and that's got a lot of people talking.
