Beginning next week, Disney will no longer require masks to be worn at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels and theme parks for guests who are fully vaccinated.

Face coverings will still be required for all Guests on Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner.  The new policy will be effective June 15 2021.

In addition, Disney has stated that it will continue to reduce physical distancing in queues, shops, restaurants, attraction boarding areas, transportation and theaters.

The last mask policy change came just over 3 weeks ago on May 15, when Disney responded to new CDC and Orange County guidance and dropped its mask requirement for guests when outdoors. However, masks were still required to be worn when indoors or on any Disney transportation.

The new policy does specify that guests who are fully vaccinated may go mask-free, however, this does mean that Disney will be relying on the honor system as there is no way for Disney to verify the vaccination status of its guests or employees.

Here is the new Walt Disney World mask policy in full.

FACE COVERINGS

Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in most areas. Face coverings will still be required of all Guests on Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner. While we will not require proof of vaccination, we expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, and upon entering and throughout all attractions and transportation. Guests must observe current policies on face coverings until June 15.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

We will be relaxing physical distancing guidelines for Guests. This will be visible in places like queues, shops, restaurants, attraction boarding, transportation and our theaters. It’s important to remember that some experiences and entertainment may still be operating with limited capacity or may remain temporarily unavailable. We’re not quite ready to bring back everything yet, but we are optimistic and look forward to the day when Disney pals and princesses are able to hug once again.

Or that group people just want to wear the masks because they are touching all the levers and getting closer to more people than most. CM do form clicks, especially the loaders. If they all feel they are safer as their small group when they work we may see CM wearing mask 2 years from now here and there. Now if all loaders on every attraction wore them we would know if it was a CM rule for loaders.

Also just because they can doesn’t mean they will

Per the rules we had before the 15th all ride loading areas were considered indoors. So who knows. Also one doesn't know if the CM is vaccinated or not.

The greeters at Everest this evening were unmasked, but the cast on the loading platform all had masks on, which was weird considering we were still very much “outside.” Are they considering a roof over your head to be “inside”?

I suppose I get it where there was food around as a double safety thing for them and us, but yeah outdoors? Uh no way at all. I even felt for our tour guide who had to wear it all day with us. He kept up an amazing pace and hardly touched his mask once. So many looked so hot though I give fantastic kudos to all CMs we encountered. They seemed so kind only one, when I remarked how horribly beat up her face shield was as she was trying to fix it, even mentioned a thing about them. For those who are vaccinated, I bet this is a great day for them!
