A strong cold front is forecast to move through the Walt Disney World theme park area on Tuesday, January 9, carrying a threat of severe weather.

The National Weather Service reports that a band of strong to severe storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and the potential for a few tornadoes is forecast to move rapidly across the peninsula late Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Locally damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible, with sustained winds of 22 mph.

The NWS says that confidence in both the timing and potential for strong to severe thunderstorms with this system continues to increase.

Disney has yet to make any operational changes at Walt Disney World, and all parks are currently planned to operate normally

Yikes! Tallahassee was mostly spared, fortunately.

JohnDJan 09, 2024

I did fine. Tornado warning for my area was issued between 10:45-11:30. I was never in the path of a tornado, fortunately. City, County, and state offices and schools were all closed today.

Thanks for this on the ground update! 🙂 -

I wish! I love me some window action! My flight is pretty full. Currently here in BOS waiting for my delayed flight. It’s late getting out of Atlanta, which I expected, and the delay is only 30 mins. So far so good…. -

I'll bet there will be plenty of window seats available!!

We're at Ft Wilderness Campground right now at 2:30 pm. Overcast and calm. Was windy earlier. Everything, including boats are operating normally.

This is the damage from the line of storms that produced tornadoes in the Florida Panhandle earlier today. I'm already hearing thunder in Horizons West. Stay alert and safe.
