Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can now take advantage of new bonus park pass reservations during September and October 2023.

Three Walt Disney World theme parks are included. Here are the dates:

  • September 30 - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • October 1 - Disney's Hollywood Studios
  • October 2 - Magic Kingdom
  • October 3 - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • October 4 - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Bonus Reservations do not count towards your allotted number of reservations included with your Annual Pass, which is five with the top-tier Incredi-Pass.

Since April 18 2023, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders are also able to visit the theme parks after 2pm without needing a park reservation, except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom.

Also, coming from a background in affiliate, companies sometimes pay or get cuts from just clicks / brand awareness, as “transactions” . If Apple viewed those reservations as monetizable traffic that could affect it

The original park pass system was hastily thrown together on the bones of the fastpass+ system when the parks reopened after the Covid closure (literally, people looked at the code). As the original fastpass+ system was bootable/modifiable on both the web and in the app, it’s always been a mystery why the PP system was website only for so long.

But there are credit card holds and some credit card processing in some of the experiences. Probably wasn't worth partitioning those out to the app? I have not idea how their system works.

I ironically had fewer issues with the DLR app than I ever did with WDW. Granted, much lower sample size, but still. Also never had much issues with USO

The WDW and DLR apps blow the Universal Orlando app out of the water. Talk about unintuitive.

It's an old ticket (prior to 2016), but converted to new media in 2019

Like anything Apple will uh, find a way.

I agree, and that’s likely why we saw it integrated at this point, but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that Disney lawyers were hesitant

This duster has always been complaining about Disney's tech. The UX sux. Once they moved away from Google's material design, which tried to get all app developers to adopt the same style, and instead, put in a completely unintuitive configuration of features, it has continually sucked. Maybe someone A.I.-vibe-coded the solution.

How old is the ticket? If prior to 2016, it can be used as-is but yes you will need theme park reservations. If the ticket is after 2016, most likely it expired and will need to be upgraded to a current ticket which does not require theme park reservations.

Except there is no money involved when making park reservations so there would be no cut for Apple.

Apple takes a % of revenue for sales within their app. Which is why you go to pay for Disney+ it has to be done on a web browser. I believe this is likely what kept theme park reservations out of the app, not incompetence from Disney Technology. It’s probably been a back and forth with Disney Legal and accountants and whatever else was holding this integration up, rather than Disney IT.

The current state of go.com is truly a sight to see.

Disney IT has sucked since the internet came into existence. Literally.
