How Early Theme Parks Entry works for Walt Disney World Resort hotels guests and those staying offsite

Walt Disney World's Early Theme Park Entry begins today, giving its resort hotel guests 30 minutes early access to attractions.

Here is a rundown of how the process works at the Magic Kingdom for both Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and those staying offsite.

The Transportation and Ticket Center for Magic Kingdom parking opens at 7:45am for those arriving by car. The security bag check opens at around 7:55am.

Guests traveling from Walt Disney World hotels can board Disney transportation approximately 45 minutes before the start of Early Theme Park Entry.

The main entrance tapstyles allow all guests onto Main Street U.S.A. as soon as they arrive. Everyone can walk the length of Main Street U.S.A. and enter any open locations.

Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests are directed to the right side of Main Street U.S.A. to a checkpoint at Tomorrowland or Fantasyland. Cast Members at this point scan Magic Bands or tickets to verify a resort stay.

Once clear of the checkpoint, those guests join a rope drop at either Fantasyland or Tomorrowland.

The left side land entrances off the hub, including Adventureland and Liberty Square, have a traditional rope drop that does not open until the official park opening time for both resort and non-resort guests.

Wait times during the 30 minute Early Entry period were very low, mostly walk-on. Although expect this to change as more guests become aware of the benefit.

Early Theme Park Entry is expected to run through at least the duration of the 18 month-long Worlds's Most Magical Celebration, but no end date has been announced.

Here is a list of all the open attractions during the 30 minute Early Theme Park Entry time.

I’ll tell you what, I was super irritated with how they opened Astro Orbitor (every time we try to ride early, they take their sweet time opening up so we stand outside the elevator for 20 min while people sprint into Space Mtn.), but we had a great time. At least we weren’t standing in that queue for an hour in the sun like some people. Yuck. I tell myself, “one day they’ll feel too cool for this.”

It's unclear if Remy will remain VQ when genie launches. I think we've seen some speculation that it drops to standby and IAS when Genie arrives. If that's been cleared up since, I'm sure someone will correct me in short order.

Thank you! Another thing I'm wondering is when GOTG opens, I'm assuming they make GOTG a VQ and then make Remys a standby. I wonder how that will work for the back entrance of Epcot for rope drop since Remys is literally RIGHT there.

Yes you can. They let onsite guests in and hold them somewhere between the U.K. and Canada until they can head for the rides.

I don't know if this is the correct thread for this but I feel like it applies. Can you rope drop the back entrance of Epcot if you stay at Beach club resort? If so then how does that work since your starting in the countries? Thanks!

Can’t even tell you how many times we’ve rope dropped The Barnstormer 🤣

All this discussion of rope-dropping rides that are typically uncrowded all day makes me think of a video Touring Plans did on the effect that just a few minutes has on rope-dropping headliners where, while on his way to 7DMT, @lentesta walks past people rope-dropping the teacups and says, "You live your best life, Mad Tea Partiers!".

The things we do for our kids. Three years ago we rope dropped Speedway on three separate days because that's what my son wanted to do so badly.

We were very pleased with early entry. It was very helpful in a holiday weekend. DHS we did SDD and RnRC in 30 min Epcot we did Test Track and FEA MK we did Astro Orbitor (son asked…), Space Mtn, and Peter Pan And at DAK today, we did FoP.

Once they stop using a VQ for the ride, then yes. That may not be until GOTG opens though.

Do people think they'll add Remy to the open rides for the extended hours?

We are planning Peter Pan, Small World for early entry and then waiting near Haunted Mansion to hop on that right at regular park opening, then head over to Thunder Mountain/Splash.

I just make sure I’m towards the front, SDMT, Pan, Splash & Big Thunder at Offical opening (Pirates, HM right after)
