Disney will add a third virtual queue to My Disney Experience on April 13, 2023, for the runDisney Merchandise Shop at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Attendees of the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend looking to purchase event weekend merchandise on the first day of the Expo will be asked to join a virtual queue.

How to Join the Virtual Queue

In order to use the virtual queue on day one of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, you'll need to download the My Disney Experience app and ensure location services are turned on.

  • Step 1: Open the My Disney Experience app and navigate to the Virtual Queues section on the Welcome Screen.

  • Step 2: Select "Join Virtual Queue" on the My Queues screen, and then select "runDisneyMerchandise Shop." Guests can request to join the virtual queue at 8:30 AM Eastern Time on April 13, 2023.

  • Step 3: Select the Guests (up to 6 people total) in your shopping party. Select "Join Virtual Queue" once more. Note: All members of your shopping party must be added to your My Disney Experience Friends & Family list prior to joining the virtual queue.

  • Step 4: If there are open spots in the virtual queue, you'll see a confirmation screen with an estimated wait time. Your estimated wait time will be based on the Expo opening time of 10:00 AM Eastern Time, so don't be alarmed if your wait appears long!

  • Step 5: You'll receive a push notification directly to your mobile device when your group is ready to return. Tapping on the push notification will take you to your digital entry code. Once received, you will have one hour to arrive at the AdventHealth Arena at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

  • Step 6: Upon your arrival, follow the signs to the check-in area and prepare to show the Cast Member your digital entry code or MagicBand.

Important Information

  • Gold and Platinum Club runDisney Members do not need to join the virtual queue to access their early shopping windows during the first day of the Expo.
  • Guests can join the virtual queue from the comfort of their hotel room or home, up to approximately 45 miles away from Walt Disney World Resort.
  • Each Guest enrolled will receive a digital entry code to present for entry. If you are unable to find your digital entry code, you can locate it by going to the 3-line hamburger icon in the app (?) and selecting "Virtual Queues." From here, you will be able to access your digital entry code.
  • The virtual queue is only needed for the runDisney Merchandise Shop on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
  • Merchandise is subject to availability and inventory may sell out.

This is true to some extent. I keep running Disney for the people mostly but I also love the races themselves. I do appreciate course variation during certain weekends like wine & dine and springtime.

I have done plenty and it's not Disney that makes each run unique and different, it's the runners.

Even with the same distances, runDisney is extremely far from stale. Every race weekend I have attended in person has such a unique atmosphere.

Yes, stale would be a good descriptor.

The worst decision run Disney ever made was putting the Light Side races, the Darkside races and the Kessel run on indefinite hiatus. A race series that definitely needs to be brought back.

Likely trying to not fight the spring break crowds too.

Interesting. Springtime surprise will be late April next year and not on the back end of Easter break. I wonder how that will factor in to sales.

That’s just not going to happen. Logistics and staffing are hard enough for one race a day. Now you’re asking for a second? I know runDisney used to do a lot of things but races were smaller and things were different. Todays runDisney isn’t the runDisney of 10 years ago.

I like a 10 mile distance too. But now let's add a 5k or half marathon in the same day as the 10 miler, a morning/night combo like the Tower races of old. A Wine&Dine might have also had a morning 5k coupled with a night time half in the early years.

Forget that, imagine how fast Grogu merch would sell at the expo for such a race.

Imagine how fast the Grogu 5K would sell out.

In the back of my head, I think they are saving it for the Springtime Surprise anniversary if such a thing exists. Like I said before, would like to try and experience that in person if possible. Agreed, I’d also like a Star Wars Rebels or Clone Wars themed race.

Completely agree. I’m hoping they do Star Wars but introduce some of the new properties with that such as Mando and things along those lines. I think people would love a Mando themed race.
