PHOTOS - Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World begins construction

Apr 03, 2019 in "Star Wars Galaxy's Edge"

Although ground  clearing has been underway on the site of the upcoming Star Wars hotel for some time, it has only been in the past few weeks that any kind of actual construction has begun.

The aerial view above shows what appears to be foundation footers being prepared on the site of the new Star Wars hotel.

Disney is yet to provide an opening date for the hotel, or offer any specific details, but we did learn a lot about the resort from some recently revealed plans. You can read about that in a previous article.

Netflix has a behind the scenes documentary on testing the Starcruiser shuttle.

Closeup picture of the area where you will board the shuttle to GE. Interesting to note the pieces of metal labeled Jet Way. Looks like they are using the same technique as in the Smugglers Run to give you the feel of walking on a boarding ramp.

There is a canal right there, what more do you want?

which there should be because this is a hotel, not a actual spaceship. I am not paying that much for a hotel to role play.

Actually, eventually, a modified one night experience is reasonable. It can be linked to on property resort packages.

While I do think the whole 3 day 2 night experience will go out the window at some point and it'll turn into something shorter (and cheaper), 8 months seems way too short. There aren't very many rooms. I think there are enough hardcore Star Wars fans and people just interested in a new concept in general to keep the place full or at least mostly full for years.
