A next generation edition of the current Symphony in the Stars fireworks show will debut in the summer of 2016 at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Titled 'Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,' the show will use fireworks, lasers, projections and special effects to create the ultimate Star Wars nighttime show.

According to a press release:

"Through these state-of-the-art special effects that project onto the nearby Chinese Theatre and other surrounding buildings, guests will gaze at the twin suns of Tatooine, push through a field of battle droids, navigate through an asteroid field, soar down the trench of the Death Star and deliver the final blow to destroy Starkiller Base. The show, which will unfold through a series of acts, will be punctuated by a tower of fire as well as powerful spotlight beams that create lightsabers in the sky."

It is interesting to note from the concept art the off-center presentation of the fireworks. This fits with the position of the new out-of-park firework launch site currently being built across World Drive, which does not line up exactly with Hollywood Blvd.

Hopefully it will stay like this, when we go in April, current schedule is Fantasmic 830 and Star Wars 900. No way to do both and it really annoys me, it had to be on purpose. Would love to be able to do both. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They've also begun starting Happily Ever After a few minutes early and it started the same time that the Star Wars fireworks got pushed back, so I wouldn't be surprised if the two are related.

RSD Part DeuxJan 29, 2018

This has already started. It was on this new schedule for the past two weeks. I just thought I was out of the loop. Very handy though. No need to rush out of the end of F! anymore. They also open the backstage path as usual, but they have a fork near the end. One path leads to the exit, the other leads to the firework viewing area.

Good. Few things are as annoying as half the crowd leaving during the last five minutes of Fantasmic. We'd sit in the back and leave right at the end and catch the Star Wars show without any issues, but it will be nice to have more of a buffer.

Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular and Disney Movie Magic moving to new times

I HOPE that's the reason! If not, someone should find out the reason and fix it!

Did notice on the wonderful @bioreconstrut's photos of SWL and TSL construction photos some work on what looks like could be gas line area. Perhaps the work could be limiting gas supply and thus flamethrowers temporarily off? Jan 14th (zoomed in and from what I can see it looks like a gas main, plus the fenced off area adds credence, plus the generators are probably natural gas as well so appropriate location with some construction around the existing line, probably tying in for SWL): Photo: clip from photo from bioreconstruct on Twitter Jan 26th (area still dug up) Photo: clip from photo from bioreconstruct on Twitter

Hmm it’s been 3 weeks now without the flamethrowers.

DisneyInsider101Jan 27, 2018

I was there today and the new firework effects seem to be there but just the flamethrowers weren't working.

This doesn't sound good!

Can confirm I didn't see any fire of any kind this weekend. Bizarre too, as the weather was outstanding. Show really missed those couple moments.

jrhwdwJan 22, 2018

If it is weather related, they should label it as an alternate version, like what TDR does. Same with ROL if it keeps having big issues So we all know that WDW isn't losing it! Thank God they haven't touched HEA! If they do.. Something needs to change!!!!

DisneyInsider101Jan 22, 2018

I would think it's Weather related but I could be wrong, The dragon in festival of fantasy also doesn't breath fire on cold days.
