One of the the
official Disney websites (Disney Fans) today has a fantastic article with lead Imagineer on Star Tours, Tom Fitzgerald.
Some of the most interesting details that appear in the article are:
- The new ride has a runtime of 4 minutes 30 seconds
- The new Starspeeder 1000 features an upgraded interior dashboard and monitors, new audio and new color scheme.
- 54 story combinations randomized
- State of the art 3D imagery produced by Lucasfilm's Industrial Light and Magic
- Enhanced motion programming of the simulators with all new terrains, including space flight, desert pod racing, underwater travel, sliding on ice, and traveling through forests
- Character appearances from Darth Vadar, Admiral Ackbar, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, R2-D2, Yoda, C-3PO and Jar Jar Binks
- Original actor voices were used where possible, including James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels and Frank Oz
- Original music from composer John Williams, with additional arrangements by Michael Giacchino
