PHOTOS - Preparations underway at Epcot for future nighttime spectaculars

Epcot future firework show preparations

Work is underway both onstage and backstage for the Illuminations replacement show set to debut in 2020.

In the fireworks marina behind the Outpost, ground clearing is underway on the site that will be used to build the floating set pieces that will be part of the new show.

In the World Showcase Lagoon, both of the islands are being worked on. Construction barges are working in the island closet to China.

On the second island near to Japan, barriers are in place, although heavy construction is yet to begin.

The unnamed new nighttime spectacular will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.

Before that new show begins, there will be a limited-time experience, called "Epcot Forever," which will debut in fall 2019 and will feature classic Epcot tunes.

"Epcot Forever" will begin with a spark of imagination that swells into an epic spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers, and special effects kites.

Yea the finale didn’t really fit, but imo it made up for it with the fireworks/pyro used. Now that’s reduced greatly....it’s so lackluster now. Another example I should’ve pointed out is the Tapestry of Nations segment. When it first debuted, the pyro would form a nice halo/ring around lagoon....now only two sides go at a time so it’s barely anything now....sigh

Possible? Of course. Is it happening? I don’t believe so. No. It’s just a test. It’ll be some time before the show opens, even without restrictions. I’d still not be surprised to see Forever again first.

I'd be happy if they went back to that permanently.

I've pretended that segment didn't happen. I don't think EPCOT is really conducive to the larger fireworks, but it can make up for it in volume. Initially I thought there were a handful of different options that would have been obvious choices to close out EPCOT Forever; but the further I get away from its debut the more I'm convinced that the closing song should have been Celebrate the Future.

Well Epcot Forever had a lot of decent pyro....until they cut it in half. For example in the finale, they used to go in 2s and 4s during A Whole New World, now it’s in 1s and 2s.

If it had Surprise In The Skies “Air Battle“ that would have made it better 🙂. Among other things of course lol.

Mediocre pyro mixed with an audio track that's good roughly half the time. I'm not bitter...

Isn’t Epcot Forever mostly pyro anyway? Minus the kites.

I'm guessing Epcot's Anniversary Tag. It's the shortest show Epcot has if we need something short. How long was SWO's Fireworks show this summer?

mnelson310 hours ago

@marni1971? Is this possible?

mnelson310 hours ago

With or without music? And even more intriguing, what music would they use? 🙂 Illuminations? Illuminations Anniversary Tag music? Epcot Forever?

Yes and yes. You'd be able to watch it from a good chunk of Future World World Celebration paths and lawns.
