New Experience Center to open in the Odyssey Events Pavilion

Feb 21, 2019 in "EPCOT"

Epcot will open a new Experience Center in the Odyssey Events Pavilion later this year to showcase the upcoming changes to Epcot.

According to Disney, "They will discover engaging and interactive exhibits that showcase the relentless innovation, energy and excitement driving the future of the park all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation."

“Epcot is beloved for its focus on imagination, innovation, fun, food and family,” said Kalogridis. “It’s a timeless place where the real is made fantastic through the magic of Disney. It has a very bright future ahead and the best part is that we’ve only just begun to dream.”

Disney today announced two new Epcot projects - a Play Pavilion and new main Epcot entrance.

The Odyssey is currently used as event space during Epcot's Festivals, and has recently been renovated.

Yeah, I agree. Despite me being an Epcot Center fan/purist, the future looked bright. Not for everyone, but it seemed exciting. Hopefully things will continue to truck along. (Although within a year or so an entire new neighborhood will be totally complete: World Discovery. So a large chunk of the planned work will be online. Silver linings!)

I'm not gonna lie - I was pretty jazzed after visiting the preview center. Except for the whole raccoon/gotg thing. But everything else was cool.

Ah. Being discussed here: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/disney-confirms-multiple-epcot-projects-are-paused.966400/

Hadn't seen their statement

MisterPenguinJul 24, 2020

...which is exactly what Disney said regarding revising the festival center. One doesn't have to have inside information to predict Disney will do what they publicly said they'll do. ;)

Grains and grains of salt and all, but Mr. Hill alluded to the new festival center being very much needed as Disney had already begun to sell the space for corporate events. The implication seemed to be that although there may not be a festival center that looks like the concept art we've seen, there will in fact be some new festival center built.

The Experience Center is incredibly well executed. I'm concerned about much of the actual content, but The Experience Center is an excellent preview facility. IMO, better than any similar facility done at a D23 Expo or at DCA's Blue Sky Cellar.

I really enjoyed this last night. The floating lanterns in the SSE scene give me a queasy feeling, however. I enjoy these types of attractions personally. I wish they could take this tech and spruce up One Man's Dream over at DHS.

Um, maybe in sprite.. but not in it's full glory that's for sure.
