PHOTOS - Disney Springs 'The Boat House' construction update

↩ replying to roj2323I like the two story version which means they are probably building the other version. Heh.

↩ replying to jt04Do we have any idea when a completion date is for The Boathouse? Among new construction, seems to be about the project which is farthest along.
Yes, I'm pretty sure the middle picture (single story) version in a previous post is indeed the one being built. But I agree, the two-story concept looks more appealing.

↩ replying to CDavidI think I read where it would be done by the end of the year. Not positive though.
I am really hoping they have some higher end venues similar to the original Empress Lily. DTD really needs something along these lines IMO. The original design of the Boathouse seemed to indicate that, but it evidently has run into some 'value engineering'.
Still holding out hope for for a nice jazz club. The old AE building could be repurposed and be perfect.

↩ replying to jt04The permit doesn't have an expiration date which means it expires one year from filing which would be 1/6/2015 so it looks like they plan to have it done this year.

Down here now, it looks beyond horrible. I've taken a lot of photo's around DTD/Pleasure and none of them do justice to how icky the place is now. The only OK-ish thing is the dock they built for the resort ferries. Nothing like a plumbers tushie hanging out over the World of Disney as you enter the place. Bad. The whole area looks like a war zone.
This was my first view arriving by ferry.

well in their defense... massive construction at DTD can't be hidden like Pandora can in AK and I'm not sure how else they could do all of this construction while still leaving DTD open...so while it does look like a bomb has hit in some places.. I guess we'll just have to wait on the end result

↩ replying to Gabe1They can't exactly hide the construction. Just kinda have to roll with it here. It should all be worth it in the end.
D
yeah, hard to float construction walls, they tend to act like sailboats....

↩ replying to dstrawn9889"Disney can't do anything right... I mean 'cmon... construction at DTD that we can see and hear...Uni could build this overnight" :)
actually it's funny to hear people complain about how long it takes them to build something and then when something like Disney Springs is all hands on deck and construction is going on everywhere to get to a big end result people complain then too
D
and they are blowing out Disney Springs at the speed of a DVC... they really have intention of getting it done as quickly as possible.

↩ replying to dstrawn9889Revenue creating construction is the best to watch.

↩ replying to WDWDad13Actually all hands are not on deck at Springs nor the Moats, both are turtle construction pace. Springs is finally adding floors to parking garage. We maybe saw a handful of dudes in the moat over 8 days so far.
Now where I did see all hands on deck was at the Mine Train this week, more than I've seen ever and suits watching from sidewalk around the dwarf. But where I am really impressed with the Uni style lets get this done is the Poly DVC water bungalows. They were not vertical when we got down here 8 days ago and vertical they are with huge construction crews. DVCs are the priority.
The sun is just coming up in this photo, full crew already working the length of the new pier.
While I'll try and lighten when I get home, you can tell how tall the structures are by how much of the Poly longhouses are now obstructed by the bungalows.

↩ replying to Gabe1I think it's safe to say the construction here is much different where at Disney springs there is also a lot of deconstruction too whereas here they build a platform over water and bring in material for individual matching small villa structures
G
↩ replying to WDWDad13Meh, depends if you we are trying to make excuses for Disney or not. Uni had so much deconstruction and then construction and can finished both in a timely fashion. So either Disney is real bad at it or Uni is that much more superior at the timely destruction process.
Disney has been destructing Pleasure Island for years now. Few can scramble up excuses for that. If they can't even knock it down I can't say I hold out hope for Disney to construct in anything but slow-motion.
