Construction is continuing in the Discovery River at Disney's Animal Kingdom for the upcoming Disney KiteTails show.

Work is wrapping up on decorating the platforms that will house the jetskis and props that will be used in the show.

Cast Members at Disney's Animal Kingdom will be able to attend previews on September 28 and 30. The previews will take place at sunrise before the park opens to guests.

The show will use oversized props and kites adorned with Disney animal friends from "The Little Mermaid," "a bug's life" and "Finding Nemo." Music will include original, worldbeat arrangements of favorite Disney tunes. Watercraft will pull massive 30ft long three-dimensional kites depicting familiar characters from "The Lion King" or "The Jungle Book," including Baloo, Zazu, Simba, King Louie, Timon and Pumbaa.

The show will officially debut on October 1 as part of The World's Most Magical Celebration at Walt Disney World. Showtimes will be 11:15am, 12:15pm, 1:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm, and 5:15pm daily.

There were definitely sounds last week when the kites “landed.” Honestly, Disney should be ecstatic about the buzz the crashes are generating. Outside of the crashes, this show is extremely boring. I mean, it’s two jet skis driving in circles with kites attached for 15 minutes. That’s it. I know it’s not intended to be a major production, but man…

Maybe because people now have actually seen it in person instead of on YouTube?

All 3 of those may be correct.

I like how in a few short weeks we have transitioned from "literally the most embarrassing show ever" to "actually sort of fun" to "definitely better than Harmonious"

I saw the show yesterday and liked it. It was only the Lion King kites and it was short, but I thought it was cute. After each segment the kites 'crash' into the empty seating area, but that is supposed to happen. The person on the back of the jet ski unclips the lines and then there are cast members on the shore to fold the kites up. There were no mishaps during the performance that we saw. The cast members on the jet skis were very enthusiastic by cheering and waving.

Replace these kites with high performance and have dueling battles. The crowd would eat it up. No IP so Bob won't be happy but.....

Couldn't they just add a short clip from the narrator saying something about the kite/s coming in for a landing the first time they're about to crash one into the stands? Once people get used to the kites crashing into the stands the shock factor fades and everyone seems quite amused by the whole spectacle, so I think they only really need some kind of cue for the audience the first time that this is what's supposed to happen.

Previously, guests simply suspected something had gone wrong. Now, Disney pretty much confirms that that’s the case.

Ah, found a public image that should help show the state of RoL:

They should get all their sounds from Windows 95.

Curious if any insiders know what the GSATs look like for this show... @ToTBellHop, @Magic Feather?
