Disney has released a first look at TRON: Ares, the highly anticipated, new installment in the TRON franchise. The film started production in January in Vancouver and is slated for release in 2025.

TRON: Ares is a follow-up to Disney’s 1982 seminal science fiction film TRON and the 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy.

Joachim Rønning directs TRON: Ares and says, “I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. TRON: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”

TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. The feature film stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson.

Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger are the producers, with Russell Allen serving as executive producer.

It's false in the sense it's only mostly true.

DKampyMay 15, 2024

This is false IMO…but maybe you should move elsewhere from the Disney fan forums then

When in recent years have they ever messed one.... up..... oh every time.

lazyboy97oMay 07, 2024

Yeah it would be so weird if a sequel followed up on a major plot point of the previous movie.

Dr.GrantSeekerMay 07, 2024

Yeah this will be interesting since the whole point was being in a computer

Blurred out lightcycles in those pix. I find it humorous they're blurring them... I assume they're hiding either 1) design or 2) a parcticular character. Lightcycles in the real world... not sure how I feel about it.

I hope Disney doesn't mess this one up. I hope they bring back ElecTRONica to DCA.

TRON: Ares has wrapped filming.

He claims no, but you never know as actors have denied starring in films before....

Tha RealestMay 02, 2024

He was terrific in Tron Legacy. A nice connective tissue to the first film. And my goodness, the man has kept his looks.

Surferboy567May 02, 2024

Nothing that I have seen. He has said before he was “done” but he showed up to the TRON Lightycle Run opening so I don’t believe that.

MoonRakerSCMMay 02, 2024

Any word on Boxlietner? Film's named after him... fights for the users etc.

Surferboy567May 02, 2024

That’s the movie I wanted this to be. Though I’m willing to give this a shot.
