Disney Floral & Gifts will be transitioning to a third-party vendor later this summer, according to an update on the official Walt Disney World website.

Disney Floral & Gifts is the official florist of the Walt Disney World Resort and offers hundreds of gifts and experiences to help celebrate special occasions.

Disney says that online and phone orders will only be accepted for delivery dates through August 26, 2023. Guests with a delivery date on or after August 27, 2023, are encouraged to check back closer to their arrival to learn more about their options to place an order through a new vendor, Florida Fresh Floral.

This is an odd one to me considering how much golf built part of WDW's image at one point.

The new vendor, Magical Floral and Gifts by Florida Fresh Floral, will begin service starting August 27, 2023. Here's the link to the website. https://magicalfloralandgifts.com/

I don't know for sure, but I'm 98.8% sure that Disney Floral was it's own thing, outside of Horticultural/Landscaping. Living with the Land is probably it's own thing or tied into Horticultural.

Does anyone know if Floral was a part of Horticultural / Landscaping, and also if Living with the land is a part of that same department?

TheMaxReboJun 06, 2023

probably just didn't get used enough to justify having a group and dedicated employees for it Makes it more efficient to outsource it to a third part that already has existing staff, etc. anyway

For value engineering

Golf management is also outsourced (wasn't always).

I guess if they outsource they can save at least $5 an hour after the new union agreement?

LilofanJun 06, 2023

Outsourcing is nothing new to Disney. Resort custodial on the overnight is outsourced along with some parts overnight park cleaning , valet parking in resorts also

The gold standard is Tokyo, which is owned and managed by the Oriental Land Company via a licensing deal with TWDC.

Sorry, I thought Paris Disney was the gold standard?

MagicRatJun 06, 2023

Not a shock to me, I should have included that as well. These companies have a group that wants to outsource one year and the next year a new group says bring it all back in house. Then does it all over again in an endless cycle. It is playing with money but in the end playing with people’s lives. No one in the public cares as long as they get their vacation or their product. People we all can’t work at Amazon.

Walt Disney World security is not outsourced. Disneyland Paris has outsourced security, but not Orlando or Anaheim. As stated above, Landscape is only outsourced by RCID

castlecake2.0Jun 06, 2023

Security host/esses are cast members, they aren’t outsourced. In park landscaping is done by both Disney Horticulture and Buena Vista Construction Company (a wholly owned business unit of TWDC). RCID contracts BrightView to maintain district lands. Someone can correct me but I believe this service is offered separately from Floral and Gifts.
