Disney has announced that its Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground will reopen next week.

Various fake news web sites have been posting that the resort is permanently closed.

The resort closed last Saturday due to Hurricane Irma, and suffered considerable damage to the landscape along with uprooted trees.

Guests with existing reservations are being relocated to other accommodations within Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Along with the continued closure of the resort, both Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ will be unavailable.

Thank the good Lord that they didn't pull a RC or Light Magic. This is one of my favorite resorts.

Imagine the efficiency of maintenance fees collected to maintain said dirt.

That seems like a really good idea.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground reopens following Hurricane Irma

Wow! This is great news! Thank you for posting!

Our plaid on the Keys of Kingdom tour said the same thing today. He said there was NO chance of a permanent closure. The manager at Coronado also said that there was cabin damage. We were supposed to stay there 9th - 19th so we have been dealing with this all week. You can judge the trustworthiness of the sources for yourself.

I got a call from Disney today. Fort Wilderness will be open Wednesday. They are putting us in the Coronado for two nights at the same rate and will let the dog stay in the room.

Plus the hundreds of people paying an extra $60 a night to rent a golf cart...

These photos haven't been updated to show the completed cabins, but you can see the land clearing; there is quite a bit of distance between River Country and any part of Wilderness Lodge. http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=28.408426&lon=-81.568294&z=16&m=b

I wasn't slamming you just correcting some misinformation. Again not trying to be rude just trying to keep information here accurate. I don't live 1000 miles away. The current cabins are not in the former river country area. They obviously could expand them but would need to more than double their length down the eastern side to reach the river county site.

Maybe I should leave this forum I joined to share the common interest in the parks and it seems like every time I share some info I get slammed. I think my problem is I try to give a heads up and someone who lives 1000 mi. away is an expert. Very irritating, I don't make this stuff up I see it everyday. They have forums for CM's I'll stay there .

Sorry they are on the fringe there is talk about continued migration toward that area.

peter11435Sep 16, 2017

Wasn't trying to be rude, sorry. The cabins are not in the same area as River Country.
