Registration still available for this weekend's Walt Disney World Marathon

Registrations are still available for this weekend's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

In stark contact to previous years, the 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon, Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge are all still available. Only the 5K has sold out.

The races take place between January 11 and January 13 2019, with pricing of $125 for the 10k, $188 for the Half and Full Marathons, and $585 for the Dopey Challenge.

Ah ok. The races themselves mentioned USATF. Thanks, that helps me avoid wasting my time on a few contenders!

This was listed on the half and full marathon pages. I also saw it under FAQ on the question, Can runDisney races serve as POT for other runDisney races?

It wasn't in the race policies tab for marathon weekend, so I went to the FAQ for the whole rD site and didn't see it there either. I always remembered seeing USATF somewhere though. Which page is that from? Posting my screenshots below. I just didn't look hard enough I guess __

I'm noticing the POT section of race policies no longer specifies a race needs to be USATF certified. That might be helpful given I thought I'd have through late Sept to find something and now it's got to be before the end of June. Event when I go to the FAQ it no longer mentions USATF. Not sure when that vanished but it makes it easier. I've had to hunt down race directors before to double check.

Thank you @pdude81 and @Demarke for helping. I’ve never run the race when the parks were officially opened. They let guests in but rides weren’t running yet. I want to do it. I’ll check out the fbook group. I figure if I run the race, PLUS add rides, entertainment, and food that the value of my registration will increase!! I will still train, but I will celebrate while running. Who knows, tmrw I may change my mind. But I’ve got plenty of time to finalize.

Official charities are listed on the runDisney website: https://www.rundisney.com/plan-your-trip/disneyworld/travel-providers/disneyworld-marathon-weekend/ As for the spots that pop up that are non-Charity. Those just appear on the runDisney website. There are trackers and such to help with this but again you have to be quick. It is usually just one or two spots at a time and they will go in a couple minutes.

Thanks for the response! I assume Team in Training is one, do you know where I can find any others? Also, when you say spots pop up periodically, where does that happen?

Charity is the only for sure way now that registration is over. Spots do periodically pop up again but you need to be quick to get those.

Does anyone know if there is another way to get a race number for the half? A good friend of mine was in a meeting this morning and missed sign up and really wants to run in it. I know in the past there have been charities that you can fund raise and get a number through, but not sure if that’s possible now. Are there any other ways to get a number? Thanks for any help.

If that's something you care about, there is a facebook group called "Ultimate Dopey Challenge" that I'm a part of where they parse out how to max out the number of rides you can do each year based on the course layout. Typically I believe the take it super easy until the halfway point or so when the parks start opening, and then have to run pretty quickly along with rides to maximize what can be ridden. You can certainly just wing it, but letting you know in case that is of interest. I tend to just jump on something if there is a short line when I run by, because at my level of fitness there is no speeding up halfway through race 4.
