Disney has today announced that more of its Walt Disney World restaurants will be reopening this summer - including two more character dining options.

Starting at Disney's Animal Kingdom, character dining will return to Tusker House this summer. During the modified character experience, guests will be served family-style entrees inspired by the flavors of Africa and can snap photos of Donald Duck and friends, dressed in their safari best as they promenade through the restaurant. More details on the menu and reservations coming soon.

Cape May Café will reopen May 18 2021 at Disney's Beach Club Resort. The restaurant will serve breakfast and dinner, but Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet will not return at reopening.

The all-you-care-to enjoy family-style breakfast menu will feature pastries (including the layered crispy, cream-filled “Lobster Tail”), omelets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waffles. Highlights from dinner will include house-made Parker House rolls and corn bread, a seafood boil with a variety of fresh seafood, The Turf Platter with steak and chicken, and lobster mac and cheese.

Bookings open for Cape May Café on May 7 2021.

Finally at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Chef Mickey's will offer a family-style dinner complete with character appearances.

The dinner menu will include “Chef Mickey’s Caesar,” citrus-poached shrimp salad, and assorted breads; main courses of gnocchi, roasted garlic potato Gratin, plant-based faro wheat fried rice, prime rib, roasted turkey, and salmon; and an assortment of sweets.

Bookings open for Chef Mickey's dinner on May 7 2021, with dinner beginning May 16 2021.

They may not have loaded yet due to Disney's IT being Disney's IT;) Check by both B, L, D and times and web and site as it may just be a glitch. Keep checking and good luck

Just tried to book Tusker House for breakfast on Sun January 8 and it's not there as an option. Jan 8 going forward, no breakfast option to click on. Hoping it's just a glitch.

No plain old scrambled eggs for breakfast?

Duh. I was down in the "Allergy Friendly" section.

I'm still seeing "platters."

Recommendation: Get a breakfast as late as possible. You start with breakfast choices and, if you're lucky, they'll switch to lunch options. It's the equivalent of brunch.

The Tusker House menus have been updated to reflect buffet-style dining - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/animal-kingdom/tusker-house-restaurant/menus/

Garden Grill breakfast was a favourite of ours. Last time we ate there in 2019 we were the very first people to arrive, so they brought all of the characters to our table together and took loads of photos of us. A real highlight.

I agree with your assessment if the family style replaced the buffet. Garden Grill, OTOH, has always been family style and I think its a sleeper favorite character meal. The nature of the rotating restaurant guarantees that the characters stop by your table. I really do miss the family style breakfast and would love to see it return.

They could have done this while I was at WDW last couple of weeks :P

I hope so, and also Trails End at Fort Wilderness. The current offering there is crap. I have tried a few times and will not return until they have the buffet back.

That's my point I guess. I don't want an all you can eat display of the garbage menu they have right now 😂 I want the pre pandemic menu back 😭😭 Tusker was my favorite.
