Epcot Space Restaurant construction - June 2019

Here is a recent aerial view of the upcoming Space restaurant set to open in Epcot's Future World.

When it opens in late 2019, expect to see some elaborate special effects as part of the experience, including a 250ft projection screen that will wrap around the restaurant. Seating will be on two tiers, along with a lounge.

Located between Mission: SPACE and Test Track in Future World, the new space restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group.

I was like that last year. Had my big trip at the end of February for Galaxies Edge planned out for a year and a half. 2 weeks before hand it was announce Micky and Minnie's would open the day after I left... I was so ticked but by then too late to change. It was still a great trip though.

It effin' figures! Our trip is 24Apr-1May. I feel like the dude that decides to wash his car in a 10 year drought and the next day a hurricane hits.

The detail I'm unclear on is whether the back projection wall (exterior wall) has it's own (presumably starfield) projections? I assume that the "mirror element" is for foreground elements such as spaceships, asteroids, WALL-E, etc.). That would make it essentially another version of Pepper's Ghost (or since it's in orbit, Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast!). I hope there will be lots of easter eggs in the projections--WALL-E, Cygnus, Death Star et al, (basically all Disney-owned space ships), plus any other non-Disney craft they can license (Enterprise, anyone?).

It was a complex situation before COVID, and well now... Think it is best just to say it will "open when it opens" at this point. :)

this vaguery takes me back to listening to old radio shows, which were ancient at the time, on cassette.

Which we will be able to see when?

220 has some nice projector tech for the window but I don’t believe it includes this.

Yeah, you could be totally right as there isn’t much room for the glass layers in Space 220. Then again we heard that there was trouble with a glass pane cracking, maybe it was relating to the mirror element. Anyway, still interesting technology.
