TRON Lightcycle Run construction - July 6 2022
Posted: Thursday July 7, 2022 4:03am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Construction continues at TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom with work now underway on the entrance sign marquee.

The base of the marquee is being built with forms in place for more concrete.

More walls are being added to the exit of the railroad tunnel which you can see in the images below.

Work on the TRON entrance area continues with modifications to the Tomorrowland Lighting & Power Co. building.

We still don't have an opening date for TRON at Magic Kingdom, but we expect to hear more at the upcoming D23 Expo later this summer.

Is the train tunnel full of rainwater?

I hope the ladders are OK!

The comment was about the structure which has been complete for some time. The ETFE roof has also been installed for awhile. Even then, EPCOT Building Code 904.2(b) requires wind loads during construction to be considered.

When completed, not necessarily while it's being built

It better be able to handle 60 mph winds! The wind seen yesterday is no worse than what can be seen during summer thunderstorms in Central Florida.

It has to take a minimum of 139 mph gusts.

Anyone know if the structure has been damaged? I cannot imagine the canopy could take excessive winds like what we had last night.

That'll be the fate of the construction they've done on the Magnolia golf course beside Floridian Way. They've built this nice new dune right beside a new water hazard that has no tarping or sod. Its going to get flat rather fast.

Overrunder it gets flooded and set back 6 months

Looks like that expansive (and expensive!) canopy will get its first real test with this week's expected wind and rain event. I hope they don't have to regrade all that exposed dirt between the concrete path sections already poured!

You say that until you realize it removes the only fun part of the ride: crashing into your brother’s car right in front of you.
