Disney moves to clarify policy on guest selfie stick usage at Walt Disney World

Apr 07, 2015 in "Magic Kingdom"

You may have noticed the increasing trend of guests using so called 'selfie sticks' at Walt Disney World, and now Disney has moved to clarify the policy on their use.

Selfie sticks are typically telescoping rods with a phone mount on one end, allowing guests to take photos of themselves or a group, with the camera positioned a couple of feet away from them on the end of the rod. If you haven't seen one, think of an old style radio antenna.

Disney is advising its Cast Members to ask guests not to use the sticks on attractions or any moving vehicle, but they are welcome to use them in other areas of the park at this time.

This is not a new policy, as guests have always been asked to stow personal items when board attractions as a matter of safety.
