'Museum of the Weird' Candle Man at Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is now home to the fabled 'Museum of the Weird' Candle Man figure.

Designed by legendary Imagineer Rolly Crump, the Candle Man figure was deemed too scary to go into the original Haunted Mansion and was instead planned to go into a never-realized 'Museum of the Weird' exhibit at the Haunted Mansion.

The demon-like ghostly figure is made of dripping wax and can be found in Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion attic scene on the left side of the forward motion.

Look for a table next to the suit of armor, and you will see the Candle Man figure looking toward your Doom Buggy.

Rolly Crump died earlier this year, and the Candle Man has likely been installed in both Walt Disney World's and Disneyland's Haunted Mansion as a tribute to Crump.

This latest addition is part of a series of upgrades at the Haunted Mansion, including an updated Madame Leota figure, the return of the mummy figure in the graveyard, updated load and unload belts, refreshed lighting in the stretch room, and the upcoming arrival of the Hatbox Ghost.

Overheard example of lack of interest... Look, kids, a new ghost. YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD!!

After Epic opens the 2025 motto will be “oh sh*t it did matter”.

Not trying to be rude, but, tell me you haven't worked at Walt Disney World without telling me.

It's literally what happened, according to every account I have ever read. The scary vrs not scary concepts and the compromise was to do each half way.

I can say the staging does not give me much hope in the culture of Imagineering and care for Tiana's retrofitting qualities.

Sure thing, it’s dumb fan service which, in addition to overpricing, is just about the only thing Disney does anymore.

Another example of great idea, did not quite stick the landing of updating WDW attractions.

Your post was edited by a moderator as well, if you haven't noticed. And it's not the first time. This entire argument has absolutely run its course. Let's all talk about The Hatbox Ghost, why don't we.

I generally prune things down to clarify what I'm responding to, particularly when two-thirds of the quoted content is an unfounded suggestion that people are being promoted based on flirtation rather than merit. But I'm sure at this point that I'm essentially throwing words into the void, so I'll leave it at that.

I am quoting you right now, and I don't agree with all of what you are stating A quote does not mean complete agreeance. It means you are following up a conversation. And no matter what let me be clear, I am not the one who had to have a post moderated from a crude phrase. That is why I stated the person may want to step back as they resorted to what this site would consider euphemism-based vulgarity.

What does reading the entire conversation have to do with it? You responded to it in general agreement without qualification or pruning of the quote in question, so it looked like you were agreeing with the whole statement. What was said in later posts is immaterial. Again, I said it's very possible it wasn't meant that way, but it's easy to see how it could be read that way.

Read the entire conversation. The mentality of not caring and this not being an addition people care about themed design placement one way or the other is the mentality I was referring to. In themed entertainment it is known as declining by degrees.

James Alucobond1 day ago

Perhaps you didn't mean it that way, but the antecedent to "mentality" here is unclear enough to be construed as such. EDIT: Sorry, responded before you added more in your edit.

Where did I agree with that? I stated that it was that they were not allowed by leadership to be your Joe Rhode types that people celebrate. I said the mentality that people don't care is what gets us the DVC buildings and indoor rollercoaster cloned with missing elements and underfunded upkeep throughout the resort.
