EPCOT Auto Plaza new EPCOT sign - January 26 2023
Posted: Thursday January 26, 2023 10:00am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The EPCOT Auto Plaza has received its new EPCOT sign as part of an update to the vehicle entrance to the park.

The new sign uses the EPCOT Bold typeface and is primarily white, outlined with dark blue.

And here is a look at the previous sign for comparison.

It isn't clear if this is the finished product or if more will be added. The framework that supported the old fabric canopy has been removed.

The main canopy desperately needs cleaning and refinishing, which will hopefully be part of this update.

Sounds like Disney handled things Augusta National style. Wish they'd do that more often!

There may not have been much to see when the park opened 👋

Unless the damage was minor, surprised nobody noticed it. The protective guardrail at the DHS parking entrance is still not repaired from the incident a year ago lol

The new member is not wrong. That’s all I can say.

Lying around like what? I didn't think they kept those in stock anymore. :cautious:

I can't speak to the validity of that member's claim, but I suspect it would be difficult to procure a parking booth in a matter of days, and it's not like they just have them lying around like lightbulbs.

Wow no I didn’t know that. Expected this was the first in a complete replacement.

You perhaps don't know this has nothing to do with a refurb. That kiosk was taken out a couple nights ago by a car.

Issue with Epcot is that they tend to close off a decent amount of parking for the RunDisney events, so they are forced to park people there. Considering that Disability parking is at capacity any given day, surprised to see they haven't converted that grass lot until additional parking space for Disability.

Has it ever come to a point where they park in grass at MK, AK or DHS? I've seen it happen several times at Epcot by the bus dropoff area but, hardly there or are those lots much bigger?

Just about to say the same thing. Disney doesn’t need a parking garage to pack them into Epcot, they’ll even use the grass when there’s demand for it.

That’s….not how any of that works.

Increased parking fees will be the next upgrade
