World Celebration Construction - March 19 2021
Posted: Monday March 22, 2021 8:39am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Work continues at EPCOT on reworking the former Innoventions East and Mouse Gear into the new center of the upcoming World Celebration.

Crews continue with installing new angled glass panels on the exterior of the new merchandise location.

A lot of work is also taking place on the roof, which looks to have new coverings.

The breezeway has seen a lot of work, with new ceilings and glass panels on either side.

The former Electric Umbrella area will become home to new food and beverage location including a Starbucks, quick serve and Coca Cola.

No word yet on when we can expect any of this to open, but we understand there is a priority on reopening the merchandise location as soon as possible.

"You can't put festival booths there!!! That sidewalk is made up of a concrete slurry mixed with titanium-carbon alloy mined from the earth in Southwest region of the US so that it activates with sparkling sunlight as the guests walk by . . . it took 5 years to install and was TREMENDOUSLY expensive!!" - Zach Riddley, probably

Here's a 4K video look around construction areas from today. At CommuniCore Plaza, scaffolding has come down, showing a clearer look at the ceiling and lighting. Also, it appears an exit into World Celebration from the restrooms at Journey of Water has opened.

I've seen a post elsewhere that said, "It's a gir... Figment!" If you get my drift.

It appears installation of the mural artwork at CommuniCore Hall has begun.

Sorry, and as of the closure we were supposed to get a new one in the center, I’m still pissed it was never built. They showed it going off so many times in that concept video.

The funniest part of these signs is the fact that their illumination is controlled by a small silver switch on the concrete base. I love just sitting and watching people turn them on or off as they pass.

Most of the tall signs around world celebration are already having lighting issues, some of them are only partially lighting up while others aren’t illuminating at all at night

Some are speculating now that Epcot will be Festival-less this summer.
