Summer 2017's opening of "Pandora - The World of Avatar" at Disney's Animal Kingdom is edging ever closer, and before 2016 comes to a close, we have an incredible look at the new land from the air.

Pandora's two rides are both located inside the single large show building to the right of the image above, which will be hidden from view by the landscape.

Avatar Flight of Passage will send you flying above the jungles of Pandora on a Mountain Banshee in a next generation Soarin' type ride.

And the Na'vi River Journey is a family-friendly boat ride through the Bioluminescent rainforests of Pandora.

The aerial views show just how much detail has gone into bringing the landscape of Pandora to life, complete with floating mountains and rock work that is the most complex ever built by Walt Disney Imagineering.

Completing the land, will be the Satu'li Canteen restaurant, and the Windtraders shop, seen at the top right of the image below.

happy accident? so are you saying this land was designed secretly by Bob Ross?

danlb_2000Apr 22, 2017

Yeah, that reveal is amazing. I have heard that this reveal was not planned and was just a happy accident, which I tend to believe because this is not the main entrance to the land.

This entrance to CarsLand blows my mind . . .

Cars Land loses a few points for me due to how much of the rest of the park you see but it becomes a non issue the deeper you go. It's even worse now that Tower of Terror was thrown up on :depressed:

Two of my Kenyan coworkers both found Harambe to be a lot like 'home' - they were very impressed. AK has amazing design in it, Pandora looks to move that forward. We scheduled our trip for Memorial Day think we might not get to see Pandora, so we're kinda stoked that it opens as we arrive!:)

I've stated here before---I have a cousin who has traveled extensively in India, Nepal, and Tibet, and I sent him a pack of pics of me in Asia and he thought I was actually there. It's pretty dang immersive. But, alien land, yeah, I'll give you that. This should be as immersive as WWOHP and CarsLand which are both very, very awesome.

Of course I have. They did a great job with the lands you mentioned, Africa in particular. However, it's not an "I'm in the middle of a fictitious movie set; how in the _____ did they actually build this" feeling. You get that walking into Cars Land and Pandora looks to be able to deliver that "wow."

But Kathy Mangum told us in the announcement for Toy Story Land that it would be on par with Cars Land!!! Even as there was a photo right behind her of concept art proving otherwise.

So... you haven't visited Africa or Asia at AK then? :p

While I agree in principle, in reality I don't think you or I are going to enjoy 210 minutes of those details. ;)

Other than Main Street USA, I can't really think of a land at WDW that is completely immersive as Pandora appears to be. My wife and I went to DCA a couple of years ago; this looks to be Cars Land level immersion. It will be like walking into the movie (without the toxic atmosphere of course). I get the sense that Star Wars Land will be the same way but Toy Story Land won't be.

True all those strollers will look awful...but that's Disney world.

oh gods.. I can feel the immersion breaking already.. as in thousands of katiebugs suddenly cried for their precious x_x

Shortly after dusk and with one or two tasty adult beverages. :) You are absolutely right though. I actually don't want fast passes for these 2 attractions. I'd rather spend time soaking up all the little details of the land in the stand-by queue
