Newly filed permits appear to show Pandora's Na'vi River Journey ride layout

Recently filed plans with the South Florida Water Management District appear to show the ride layout for the Na'vi River Journey, coming to Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The straight section of blue would appear to be the load/unload area, and a maintenance area to the far right. The remainder of the blue area looks to be the ride path. These plans also seem to confirm that the entire ride will be indoors.

(Thanks to danlb_2000 on the WDWMAGIC Forums for spotting this one!)

Opening in 2017, the Na'vi River Journey is the land's second attraction, offering a D-Ticket class family river ride through Pandora's bioluminescent rainforest. The river cruise will provide an alternative experience for those guests who may not wish to experience the land's more thrilling AVATAR Flight of Passage attraction.

All they have to do is change the screens on river journey

How about half dark ride half log flume with a hill drop that brings you “underwater” moving through some show scenes that’s then followed by a bigger hill finale. No clue if there is room for something like that but if they use bigger boats vs the smaller splash logs it could actually be a pretty high capacity ride. I know there’s already a boat ride in Pandora but this would be faster paced with some sort of story and a little more thrill to it.

So with the new movie being based heavily on the underwater world of Pandora, how about adding another ride that would be similar to the Tokyo subs in TDS where you see some underwater creatures and environments?

Quite the opposite. Loved walking through Harambe and was excited to see a staged version of Lion King that matched the land. I had heard nothing but good things beforehand. Theatre was bare bones but that worked for me. I loved the costumes and energy of the live performers in the pre-show. Then, we get that opening directly from the soundtrack and my heart sank. Then when the 20 year old floats from Disneyland rolled out I knew we were in trouble. Maybe its a LA/Florida thing. I heard from a friend at WDW that the talent levels of performers they have access to is far more hit or miss than the LA adjacent Disneyland. My friend and I also experienced the shock of walking into the Hyperion at DHS to see Frozen. So very different than the Hyperion Frozen we had seen at DCA.

You seem to have had an already negative outlook when you entered. No surprise.

I was responding to a comment regarding AK, the park which houses Pandora. In this thread. Have a nice day

Festival of the Lion King is in Harambe.

In Pandora????

Yep, but the opening of the show, the opening of Circle of Life...piped in. Starts the show off with a whimper.

The four principal singers sing live.

I agree about AK. I love the design and feel of the park, but before Pandora opened, we visited and had seen everything except for the bird show by 1 in the afternoon. We were going to stay for the nighttime experience, but after riding Everest about 4 times in a row and rain coming in, we decided to head back to the hotel around 5. I wouldn't even call it a half day park at that point. I haven't had a chance to visit Pandora, so I'm excited to see what that brings. I will say, as a CA native, I was way oversold on Festival of the Lion King. A big vacuous warehouse with the parade floats DIsneyland had in the 90's parked around the arena. For a land rooted in such realism, I was hoping for a more artistic and imaginative show, not an actor in a Timon Meet and Greet costume and cartoonish parade floats parked around with lip syncing to pre-recorded music. Nemo was cute, but even if it was still around, not sure I'd watch it again. Kali River Rapids is one of the worst raft rides I have ever experienced. Its short, boring, and you don't even get that wet. I feel like it serves no function. Safari was phenomenal and the trails were really cool. But they only take up so much time. Hopefully a redo of Dinoland will help complete the park.

However, Avatar 2 is going to revolve around Ne'vi's family. "Set several years after the events of Avatar, Sully is now chieftain and Neytiri high priestess of their clan - although events will apparently focus on their children. They'll also be journeying beyond the forests of Pandora into underwater and volcanic video game levels environments." Also read:

I agree! Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom are the best Disney parks in my opinion. EPCOT and Hollywood Studios still need a lot more work.
