We used to shop AND buy at Sid Cahuenga's on all our trips. Sadly, the darling little shop is but a shadow of it's former self. They used to sell movie props, large items and small but those things have slowly been removed, only to be replaced by autographed photos and a few newly made items, similar things that can be found at Hallmark. LOL Nothing wrong with the current merchandise but we so enjoyed purchasing up a small bauble that Judy Garland used to own, or a little ornament off the tree from some famous holiday movie. The place truly used to be a small museum of movie history (although all the items were for sale!) but perhaps more people went to look than to buy. So sad.

THIS is what I expect from a store inside a theme park dedicated to film. A place that sells movie memorabilia, and I'm sorry but after a certain point Disney characters DO NOT count! I mean, every other store at the Studio sells practically the same tired Disney character merchandise. There might be a small store here and there w/ some merchandise themed to a specific attraction (Indiana Jones, Muppets, etc), but here is a store devoted to film itself. While I understand that to have more merchandise like this probably doesn't make a whole lot of business sense, it really adds to the atmosphere the same way the shops of the Main Street of old or Disneyland's New Orleans Square used to simply add atmosphere. Slowly, these mom-and-pop places are making way for yet another Disney character shop, and it really does a diservice to the uniqueness of each area. I find it sad that Sid Cahuenga's is off in a corner of the street, though I admit that to put it anywhere else may take away from it's charm.

One of the best theme park shops, this shop features an assortment of props, curios, and movie posters for sale. While some can be very expensive (if you want a pair of shoes worn ny Cher, they're going to be expensive), but items such as movie posters and lobby cards out on the poarch are less expensive and intersting souvenirs and make great conversationpieces. Definatly worth a visit, if even just to look and not buy.

I visit the store on every visit to MGM. If you are a fan of celebrity photos (signed), movie props and other collectables, this store is for you!
Prices can be expensive, but then you are buying one-of-a-kinds!
