Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom bridge construction - September 3 2020

The new walkwas from the Magic Kingdom to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort looks to be nearly ready for guests, perhaps as soon as the resort reopens later this month.

The swing bridge pictured above has lighting, landscaping and appears to be operational.

The second fixed bridge near to the Grand Floridan convention center is also complete.

Near to the monorail, a temporary walkway has been setup while work is completed on the new path that will begin in the new boat dock area being constructed close to the resort monorail entrance.

Awesome, just left yesterday and they were preparing the walkway. Missed it by a few days!

Thanks! Let's hope they are on schedule with late Spring!

Any thoughts on whether it will be open by December?

Are the renovation materials for the main building in the same location? Or will those be staged elsewhere?

ToTBellHopApr 26, 2023

Wonder how much longer it will be closed. They seem to be rapidly concluding exterior construction on Sago Cay.

This being closed is such a bummer - I was super looking forward to using this on my upcoming trip. I had been wondering why no one was taking it in some videos I was watching!

I'm hoping the walkway is available for my December trip!

TuvaluApr 10, 2023

It’s not. The walkway is closed for construction in the outer building closest to it. It would be unsafe to have guests in that area now. Nothing is being done to the walkway itself. I personally witnessed the site on Thursday.

FutureCEOApr 10, 2023

I wouldn't be surprised if the walkway was a pile of dirt right now.
