Early 1999 Disney's Animal Kingdom unveils it's second major thrill ride, Kali River Rapids. It represents Disney's first attempt at a river rapid type ride. However, following in the tradition of other Disney firsts, it will raise the bar for the competition.
Along the 10 minute ride, guests will encounter real life tigers, exploding trucks, near misses with huge floating logs and finally a 35ft drop!

March 14 1999: WDW Central Reservations is quoting March 17th as the official grand opening day for Kali River Rapids. Thank JBB.

March 1, 1999: Previews of Kali have been suspended to allow some adjustments. A large crane is on the site. The ride is still scheduled for full opening later this month.
February 12, 1999: Cast preview are underway! Initial reports are favourable.
February 1, 1999: The previews of Asia are back open again. Expect CM previews of Kali Rapids in the next 2 weeks.
January 16, 1999: The preview ended on Friday, January 8th. No news of anymore previews until March official opening.

December 20, 1998: News in from Dawn who was in the park today. Kali River Rapids was being tested on the 19th, and news from the CMs is that it is ahead of schedule! :-) The whole Asia area looks spectacular, and the Tiger exhibit is amazing!
December 19, 1998: Ride has been renamed to Kali River Rapids.
December 18,1998: Asia area has opened. 75 percent of the animals are "on-stage". Initial reports are that the theming is amazing! River Rapids has not opened as expected.
December 1, 1998: Rumours suggest that Asia will be opened on December 18. River Rapids is expected in January.
October 26, 1998: Seems that a name change will happen before the opening date. Apparently there are no tigers on the rapid route!
