Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park will reopen to guests starting March 17, 2024.

Disney is continuing its post-pandemic water park plan into 2024, leaving only one of the two parks open at a time.

Disney's Blizzard Beach water park, available now through March 16, 2024, will be closed for refurbishment beginning March 17, 2024.

runDisney did not offer that this weekend as they had their own paid after party in Typhoon Lagoon. It was $85 to attend. Similar to H2O Glow Nights. Other race weekends do typically have a 50% off water parks deal for runners though.

It's also a RunDisney weekend and runners tend to get deals for the water parks if not free tickets. Perfect storm to be packed today.

https://sportsfacilities.com/combating-the-lifeguard-shortage-a-comprehensive-guide-for-aquatics-center-management/ Now, if WDW was willing to pay $100 hr they could poach from other pools/beaches in the state. ;)

To be fair, this isn't typical. It's the first super hot day of the year, so naturally people are flocking to the water parks.

Surely both parks will be open next year for the water park perk?

Yeah…that was that zany time in Disney history where they asked people to spend their limited vacation time and money at their property…and in return, Disney staffed and ran the components of their property Crazy Now it’s an escort out of the magic kingdom a 7 pm three times a week 😂

That was a great park for young kids! We still miss it.

At one point WDW had three water parks all operating at the same time.

The water parks don’t seem popular enough to justify opening both. But they also don’t market them, haven’t updated Blizzard Beach, and make it onerous to get to a water park. Self-sabotage there. Remember when they never updated Disney Quest and then closed it because no one went there?

At this point it’s been years since both water parks have been open. I wonder if they’d ever just bulldoze one of them and put up a dvc. Edit: I don’t want that to happen, but I feel as though some people at Disney must have asked this question already.

1. Bob Iger so loves the water parks that he is personally helping build new attractions at one park for the next 6 months. 2. Goofy is actually being quarantined in the closed water park due to that nasty bug he contracted on his last European tour. 3. It's a cost-cutting measure.

I’ll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don’t count

It's 100% a cost cutting exercise..... Disney's current company motto is of course "pay more, get less"
