First look at EPCOT's new nighttime firework spectacular show barges backstage

New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct offer a first look at the new firework platform barges for the upcoming unnamed nighttime spectacular at EPCOT.

As work progresses in World Showcase Lagoon on preparing docking points for the new barges backstage, work is well underway on prepping the new platforms.

Based on the concept art and work in the lagoon, we expect to see a central barge in World Showcase Lagoon surrounded by six large central "fork" barges pictured above in the aerial photo. Each of the fork barges will have three smaller individual barges docked inside the fork to deploy out in the lagoon - radiating outwards like spokes in a wheel when viewed overhead. Each barge will carry lighting and pyrotechnics.

Storing the three smaller barges inside the fork of each of the larger barges will make it much easier to logistically move the platforms from backstage to the lagoon each day. Unlike Harmonious, the new show will have minimal daytime intrusion of the lagoon view, with hardware being brought in and out of the lagoon before each performance.

In the few details that have been released, Disney says that the show will feature lights, lasers, and fireworks. We do not expect to see drones or video projections. Fire effects and fountains remain a possibility but are not confirmed.

Disney has previously said that the show will feature an original composition and evocative selections from the Disney songbook – all woven together to remind us that we are more alike than different. Some fans may be concerned that this show is heading in a similar direction to Harmonious, but as more details are released in the coming months, we expect a positive outlook on the soundtrack.

The new show will be the permanent replacement for Harmonious, which came to a close at the end of March 2023. EPCOT Forever continues to play as an interim show while the new show is developed for its debut later in 2023.

I know, but patience is unfortunately a virtue I lack. Also, as a college student studying for finals, anything to procrastinate.

All of this seems like a lot of work when you could just wait till tomorrow and listen to it without any issues lol.

If you can use a VPN for Japan, it works for YouTube.

I assume that's the case. When it comes to media laws and such, they're usually tough (everywhere, not just Japan). Even though it probably won't matter tomorrow, it was a fun thing to figure out.

Perhaps you really do need to appear local in order to make digital music purchases, but for other products, you can create a Japanese Amazon account from abroad, pay using foreign credit cards, and get things delivered overseas for a very reasonable fee. They even have excellent English-language customer service.

This actually looks really interesting to see the creative process on how they changed some of the things in the show and that they were working up until the very last minute. Just a based off this maybe 1 minute clip it already looks better than the 10-minute segment for harmonious they did for the behind the attraction show on Disney Plus lol.

Commented over on Twitter but I guess that explains the album release. They're trying to line it all up I assume.

EPCOT Becoming: Inside the Transformation airs tomorrow night at 10pm ET on National Geographic. Here's a preview of the segment on Luminous.

- Set my VPN to Japan - Made a Amazon Japan account - My address was set to the Ghibli museum - Bought a Amazon JP gift card for 2k yen from a 3rd party site that I mostly trust Order went through without issue I tried using my credit card but it refused it everytime regardless of address or VPN location. Not sure if VPN is absolutely needed but from what I remember, Amazon Music JP is pretty strict (media rights and such) so I ran with it. Edit: Who wrote the music? Everyone apparently

Feeling stupid lol but how did you purchase it from Japan?

If Harmonious was, I'd assume it would be. I only raced to grab it because I've seen weird things happen with media in the past like random removal. If Japan got it today, I'd assume tomorrow for a US release since it's technically tomorrow there already. But music rights are weird so who knows.

Is this going to be on ITunes?

It's the 'Welcome, to the great gathering.' at the beginning, instrumental, and then transitions to the narration 'Everyone on this Earth is part of the great Symphony of Us...' In the end, it's just 'In the great Symphony of Us.'
