Downtown Disney's United World Soccer Shop closing to be replaced with a Disney operated Marvel store

The United World Soccer shop on the West Side at Downtown Disney will have its final day of operation on March 25 2015.

The soccer shirt shop, which opened just in time for the World Cup in Brazil on May 22 2014, was always intended to operate for a limited period, but may well reopen in another location in the new Disney Springs. The location was previously another pop-up store, BLINK by Wet Seal.

In place of United World Soccer will come a Disney operated store selling Marvel merchandise. No word yet on the opening date, but with Avengers 2 on the horizon, an opening should not be far away.

Smart move on Disney's part! Great way to bring Marvel to WDW without violating their licensing agreement!

Yes please and a brand new accurate Pizza Planet!

Agreed. Al's Toy Barn needs to be a component of DHS expansion.

Always thought a Pixar related store in this manner could do quite well. Every movie has a unique fan base that is being underserved except Cars IMO.

Friday with the movie.

Any updates on the store opening?

D-street is pretty much next door and they have a lot of Marvel Merch. I wonder if they'll still carry the super hero related stuff they have now.

Did you known that DC and Marvel own the trademark on the word Super-Heroes? So Universal Marvel Super-Heroes Island should really be call the Island (and it really not a island).

I had already confirmed that a few pages back...

Indeed. Seems to have the SHIELD logo on the store name though.

danlb_2000Apr 12, 2015

So it looks like the idea that they will not be using the Marvel name might be true.

Excited already! We are arriving on the 26th April to stay for two weeks, so hoping the store will be open at least from the 1st May. My boyfriend wants an Iron Man t-shirt. :p We will have seen the new film already, as it comes out 23rd April here.
