Beginning next week, all three Hess Express Gas Stations on Walt Disney World property will be rebranded as Speedway.

As part of their $2.6 billion buyout of Hess in 2014, Speedway is in the process of rebranding over 1000 Hess locations.

Each gas station will be closed from 5am through to 5am the next day for the work, with the schedule currently looking like:

  • July 14 - Boardwalk Resort
  • July 15 - Downtown Disney
  • July 16 - Magic Kingdom Car Care Center

The Hess brand has been at Walt Disney World since taking over from ExxonMobil in 2004.

Ohhh...Wawa is a close 2nd to Dunkies...I could go for that.

The Visionary SoulAug 05, 2020

I would support a re-negotiation of the gas station contracts to replace them with Wawa and Tesla Supercharger stations.

Good, If Marathon supplies the gas then maybe 7-11 will finally dump the Venezuelan gas it has been pumping for so long. Hate supporting that government GOOD!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but regardless of what Speedway and 7-11 end up becoming the Dunkin' partnership had reached it's end. https://www.ktnv.com/dunkin-to-close-450-speedway-stores/#:~:text=Dunkin'%20recently%20announced%20the%20company,partnership%20with%20Speedway%20gas%20stations.

"Included in the deal is a 15-year agreement in which Marathon would provide 7.7 billion gallons of petroleum a year to the gasoline station chain. "

Will they have discounted bentos like in Japan stores?

Horizons '83Aug 04, 2020

I believe the goal for 7-Eleven is expand its brand domestically so I'd bet good money the speedway brand is going away. Now as it pertains to the gas supplier itself, its Marathon (aka speedway) so we shall see that who the supplier is.

Hopefully they keep it alive...the one near Disney was a lifesafer for providing Dunkies, and we got their rewards card not even realizing that a short time after our trip, the Hess less than 5 miles from our house would be changed to a Speedway.

We don't know what 7-Eleven plans for the Speedway brand -- rebranding to 7-Eleven stores or keeping the chain alive.

Apple CoreAug 04, 2020

I don't know how individual 7-11 locations are managed and what their relationship to their overall corporation is. But the four 7-11s to the immediate north of WDW property are notorious among locals for credit card skimming and scams. Locations in Osceola County have also been problematic according to the sheriff's office. Let's hope the WDW situation will be different.

A huge downside (for me at least) will be if 7-eleven doesn't carry the speedway exclusive Mountain Dew Cyclone in the fountains. They didn't have it at the WDW locations but you can go to the location at 536 and 417 which is only a few minutes outside the gate.

Master YodaAug 04, 2020

The only real downside to this is bye-bye Dunkin Donuts coffee. :(

MovieloverAug 04, 2020

Eh, QT is the only good gas station, all the others are just posers...

MonorailCoralAug 04, 2020

As long as that sweet, savory smell of 5-day old roller dogs and overdone taquitos greets me getting off the Monorail, I'm ok with that.
