Pangani Forest Exploration Trail at Disney's Animal Kingdom will be partially closing from September 3 2014 for a lengthy refurbishment.

During the refurbishment, the entrance will be closed, and guests will enter via the exit. The underwater hippo exhibit, the aviary, and the research outpost will all be closed during the work. The colobus monkeys, zebra, gorillas, and meerkats will continue to be available.

There is no word yet on when the refurbishment will be completed, but expect it to remain closed until at least mid-November 2014.

I presume that's the bridge/walkway inside the aviary? The only other bridge I can think of on the Trail was in the part that was still open during the refurb. -Rob

We were there the 1st week in Dec and I feel like all this was open.... Definitely saw the underwater viewing of fish and hippos. Is the Aviary just the outdoor part with all the birds? We walked through there too.

Any idea what was done?

Any new word on this? I'm hoping it's back up by my trip Nov 18th to 25th. I won't be able to go on my last day but fingers crossed it gets finished before then.

As far as I know, yes it will. It would be great if they added some new species back there.

djkidkazSep 02, 2014

Otherwise it's staying the same?

The bird aviary will have new poles and mesh put up.

Last visit we saw something that almost did that. All the bachelor gorillas got in a big fight. Pounding and running and growling and chasing. Got some really cool pictures. Some of those guys had some scary expressions.
