Posted: Wednesday October 18, 2017 9:43am EDT by WDWMAGIC Staff

The refurbishment at Echo Lake is continuing, with crews currently installing cabling out to the center island for installation of the park's Christmas Tree.

Meanwhile, over at the Dockside Diner, a complete exterior refurbishment is underway with new paint now being applied.

During the holidays this year from November 9 2017, extra-large ornaments, colorful garlands and a giant Christmas tree will be centered on Echo Lake.

Everything thus far in the park looks great.

It's better look great. There's so little of the park left, they'd better make it first class for the prices they charge (even if its part of a multi-day pass).

Photo update as of Sunday, October 22, 2017. Sod was added in the center of Echo Lake island. The tree trunks that appear underwater in Echo Lake have been repainted dark brown. Previously they were tan, or very faded.

I’m ok with that really. I like the idea of the tree on the island (final judgement until we see the actual display of course). It’s unique and should look great at night with the lights reflecting on the water. DHS should look really nice for the holidays. Yes, it stinks losing the Osborne lights, but the entire “old Hollywood” section of the park is going to be decorated head to toe, and with some new entertainment to boot.

The bigger issue is the projection shows which are here to stay. Echo Lake is a new, permanent home.

I'm still a little bummed that the tree isn't going back to its old home in the center of park in front of the Chinese Theater, but even with the new mobile stages I assume Lucasfilm didn't like the idea of a giant Christmas tree being the backdrop for their Star Wars character show. Maybe one day...

Hopefully it's going in it's spot outside the gate and a new tree on the island.
