The Circle of Life at Epcot's The Land Pavilion is now closed for refurbishment.

The refurbishment began on February 7, and the show is scheduled to be closed through to April 2, reopening to guests on April 3 2016.

No word yet on what work is being done, but with a refurbishment of Soarin' also underway, perhaps the time is now right to replace the 1995 movie with something new. Disney has a possible update in the wings, with the hugely successful Lion Guard animated TV series.

The Circle of Life is a 20 minute 70mm movie film that teaches conservation with Timon and Pumbaa from the Lion King.

Few? It takes only one!

Biff215May 01, 2016

There is. They didn't want to pay the few CM's it takes to keep it open while Soarin' is closed and the pavilion is rather empty. Someone likely received a bonus for this brilliant idea.

It took almost three months for a carpet replacement? Since when does something simple like that take such a long time? There has to be another reason other than that.

Well, I am pleased to report that my family and I arrived at the theater thrilled to find it open with the carpet mural completely intact! I asked the attending cast member about the closure and he said it was for carpet replacement. My pavilion lives another day without a permanent closure/unused space!

So they aren't adding dancing animatronic vegetables, singing rock tunes about eating healthy?

Geesh! The more I keep reading, the more depressed I get about my favorite park and the desperate state of disrepair it's been allowed to fall into :arghh: I think what's so aggravating reading this thread is that there was no notice this was getting shut down for "renovations" and then when it's supposed to open, nope...nothing! It just sits there...like no one over there gives a ****!!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: I think it's despicable that they just can NOT stick to their own timelines! I don't understand how Disney can put their ships into dry dock and have them completely refurbished in less time than it takes for them to do most of the park renovations. I bet that the new cruise ships will be built long before SWL opens  And...off my rant

Unforgettable Happens Here!

It will reopen before the end of the month with the same movie and some minor adjustments to the stairs and new railings.

Haymarket2008Apr 07, 2016

It needs to go. This is way overdue. I never like to see something empty in Epcot, but the pavilion deserves a better show at this point.

The last few times Disney has let attractions under "refurbishment" remain closed past their re-opening dates, it's been bad news... Off the top of my head I can think of 20K and Rocket Rods. If Circle of Life really is closed for good, that's stinks for me because I love The Lion King...

On April 3 (the day it was scheduled to reopen), this sign was still outside the theater
