'Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind' preview March 17 2022

Disney has today confirmed the Genie queue options that will be available for EPCOT's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" rollercoaster opening May 27 2022 at Walt Disney World.

When "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" opens, a virtual queue will be in place. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed. Not all boarding groups may be called to return, based on availability of the experience.

Guests may purchase individual Lightning Lane entry for this attraction when it opens, although pricing is not yet available and Cosmic Rewind will not be included with the standard $15 Genie+ option.

The current highest price Lightning Lane queue at Walt Disney World is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at $15, which would seem the most comparable e-ticket class attraction to Cosmic Rewind.

Based on previous virtual queues, we should expect availability for Cosmic Rewind to reach capacity within seconds of opening each day, making experiencing the ride somewhat of a lottery.

How the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue works

Plan Ahead — Before Your Visit

Make sure you have the My Disney Experience app, with notifications enabled so you receive important updates about the virtual queue—including callback details and daily distribution times.
Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue to check for an available boarding group for everyone in your party. If multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may inhibit your ability to join a group.

Get Ready to Join the Virtual Queue

On the day of your visit, you may have the opportunity to join the virtual queue at daily distribution times, which are subject to change or cancellation as availability allows. Distribution schedules will be available in the My Disney Experience app.

Follow these steps to join the virtual queue:

  • Step 1 – Check Availability: Log in to the My Disney Experience app at one of the distribution times. Select “Virtual Queues” on the home screen to view the current status and next steps for joining a virtual queue. The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time, or if a backup group is available.

  • Step 2 – Enroll Your Group: As long as your Disney account is linked to your group's park tickets, and everyone has valid admission and park reservations for the park you will visit, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time (subject to availability).

  • Step 3 – Enjoy the Experience: If your boarding group is called to return, you’ll receive a notification via the My Disney Experience app. Then, head over to the entrance of the experience within your designated return window.

Would adding FOP and/or ROTR make it too busy? I feel like guardians compares closer to those 2 as it is the clear premiere attraction in a non-MK park. (Even though SDD amazingly has almost identical wait times to ROTR)

Here are the 10 am to 1pm wait times

I can speak to crowds only yesterday. (I forgot to look at the CR lines.) The park from about 6:30-9:00pm was on the mid-lower end of average for a weekday. I typically go on Tuesday evenings. Comparing over the past year or so - it seemed a little slower than during a Festival, but also not slow. Parking lot was quite full when we arrived, but with lots of open spots in the sections they had filled earlier in the day. That seems to be a trend these days.

1PM to 5PM is looking like about 1 hour standby. That’s not too bad for the most popular attraction in EPCOT while TT is closed. Right now was historically considered an off peak time. I just checked the ticket price for one day at EPCOT and it’s $164 and if I remember correctly that is not the lowest price (unless prices went up more than I thought), so now is no longer considered off peak?

Here are the actual wait times (green dots) we captured at Guardians yesterday. Very even.

It averages around 1,750 per hour as we've counted, with a peak of 1,890/hour. So yeah, it can get through a lot of people.

Maybe people were saving it for their last ride of the day and then going back to change 😂

I prefer Tron because I don't feel sick when I get off. Also, the seating position is unique and fun. As an overall ride, I think CR is a better ride but it is less enjoyable for me due to the motion sickness.

if you didn't see the next post it did drop a lot right after this chart

Fascinated by Tiana's wait times peaking later in the day vs. earlier. You'd think it'd be the other way around for a water ride in February.
