The New Orleans Book Festival hosted Walt Disney Imagineering for a panel discussion on "Bringing Tiana's Bayou Adventure to Life," moderated by Leslie Iwerks.

In this 45-minute video, you can hear from WDI's Charita Carter and Carmen Smith and "honorary Imagineer" Stella Chase.

The New Orleans Book Festival brings the world's leading authors to Tulane University for a multi-day celebration of their works. The Festival features both fiction and non-fiction and convenes readings, panel discussions, symposia and keynote speeches. It provides an opportunity for outlets, authors and readers to interact with each other in one of the most vibrant and culturally diverse cities in the world.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open in the summer of 2024, but Disney has yet to announce a precise date.

The earliest and most optimistic estimates place a soft opening around Memorial Day (late May), which may put an official opening sometime in July.

The upcoming D23 Down in New Orleans event on March 23 provides Disney with one of two opportunities to announce an opening date; the other is the Annual Shareholders meeting on April 3.

Perhaps, but there are several logs tagged and others with no tags. -

They gave the log a red card

Keep track of which have made the mandatory number of cycles?

Here now in front of the Attracton, logs are being cycled through. Good crowd here right now watching with me on the bridge. Some of the logs are tagged with red tags attached to the ‘rope point’ on the back. Not sure what the designation is for…but here is a quick snapshot - Another observation - The logs are stopping at the top of the lift hill. Hesitating…just for a moment. They are are not just tumbling over the lift as usual. May just be the spacing settings, waiting for the prior log to get out of the clearance range, but wanted to note it. Every single log is stopping at the top…as if it might be a part of the experience now. Two Imagineers just rode by with camera equipment set up in one of the logs.

Strange. They usually don’t highlight construction sites. That’s not magical. You’re supposed to think it’s a real waterfall.

Agree. Not sure why they made it look that way, but perhaps they wanted to drive home the fact it is still under construction. -

Risky, could take down the internet for the eastern US. But seriously, there may be a tech hurdle involved, which means ut-oh spaghetti-o. True story: on a trip a semi full of spaghetti-o caught fire and closed the freeway. Waited in line for hours. That phrase has had meaning ever since. Every time we're in a traffic jam we muse that they shouldn't transport spaghetti-o across state lines without a hazmat permit.

The wall behind it made it look like something weird and alien to those used to the view. I can understand it.

So they are really going to have 2 VQ's at the same time? So you can only ride one or the other if you opt not to do G+? Is this the confirmed plan? Or is something else planned for both VQ's?

Love @Drew the Disney Dude's optimism and positivity here.

I’ll be curious to see when they decide to take BTMRR down given the fact that it’s better to have both it and TBA open for the first few months with Standby open. Perhaps they push BTMRR out later into 2024. It was originally a January 2025 closure.

I was kinda shocked the waterfall was off on their announcement video. I like it much better with the waterfall on.

Quick observations as I take a closer look…. Might be old news now, but the colored glass in the entrance door to Tiana’s Attraction is a nice detall. Also, some lights awaiting installation today.

Thank you! I’m not sure why I wasn’t able to work that out!
