Disney has shared a behind-the-scenes look at preparations for the upcoming new drone show at Disney Springs.

"Disney Dreams That Soar" is a summertime experience that will be a late-night perk for visitors. Taking place over the Disney Springs lake, "Disney Dreams That Soar," will showcase Disney stories celebrating the joy of flight with state-of-the-art drones choreographed to create designs in the sky and paired with a "soaring" musical score and memorable movie quotes.

Disney will use 800 drones in the 10-minute show to create Disney characters and scenes in the sky, such as The Rocketeer, Orange Bird, the Deathstar—which is actually bigger than Spaceship Earth—and Baymax, which is even bigger than the Deathstar. When watching "Disney Dreams That Soar," your MagicBand+ will come alive—lighting up, vibrating and interacting with the show.

"Disney Dreams That Soar" will run nightly from May 24 through September 2, 2024. Viewing areas are on Disney Springs West Side—along the waterfront between the Cirque du Soleil Theatre and Aerophile. Viewing areas for Disney Dreams That Soar will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

I’ll sound like an old man, but that’s crazy that there isn’t a trail through that conservation land! It doubles the walk time! Perhaps faster and easier to walk than to drive, but I’ve never taken an Uber to or from Disney Springs. I know the drop off area well, but can’t attest to how well it would handle an influx of cars.

Planning on going tonight, staying at the Hyatt’s Grand Cypress near Springs. Should I take Uber instead of driving? It’s a 40 min walk btw lol seems quicker than driving

Not sure, but because the park was closed they could fly from backstage without any guest overflight issues.

Do you know where they launched from when they did that little test preview over the tree of life?

The viewing area that is circled also looks too close to the seating area to be an effective drone show. Your either too limited in distance to make a worthwild show, or your going to have to have the drones flying further away, putting them over guest areas or animal areas, niether of which is ideal.

It is all too close to guest areas unfortunately. There is no staging area for them to land, and they would have to fly over guest areas.

Four outcomes with drones at MK. A separate nightly drone show, DAH drone show, drone addition to HEA or the very unpopular outcome which is replacing HEA.

The water screen effect wasn’t spectacular for the show.

Wasn't it the same with the water screen?

ToTBellHop17 hours ago

That’s challenging when showing Disney characters. They are noticeably backwards from SSR, for example.

Those far left 3 sections don’t face that way. Are you suppose to crane your neck to watch the show? And do they make the perfect viewing angle face the one area of the viewing area without seats? The amphitheater was not designed for a show with a single, optimal viewing angle. This would make drone usage at Epcot hard, too. It would work best over the Castle or Chinese Theatre.

And to add to this, drone shows don’t HAVE to be 2d. They can be 3d, or positioned in a way that everyone could have a enjoyable view.

Why can't they do the drones here: It didn't seem like a problem for the water screen for ROL.

ToTBellHop18 hours ago

One problem for DAK is the RoL viewing area has two seating areas at dramatically different viewing angles. As we see in this show, drones work best from a single viewing angle unless you repeatedly spin everything.
