Tiana's Bayou Adventure nighttime lighting test April 21 2024

Lighting tests have been underway over the last week at Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, giving guests a first look at the new attraction after dark.

The tiara topped Tiana's Food tower is bathed in a deep orange glow from the support platform.

The bayou is lit in shades of blue, purple, and green from fixtures in the water and throughout the area.

Completing the bayou scene, we also see flickering lights from fireflies.

We are still waiting for a precise opening date, but Disney has previously said that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will open this summer at Walt Disney World and later in 2024 at Disneyland. The current best estimates are still leaning toward the mid-June timeframe, with previews expected before then.

Sorry I’m sure this question has been answered. If I’m at my Disney hotel and I join the virtual Q before 7am and get a slot for the ride that’s fine. I take it it’s going to take a lot of luck to get a slot first 2 weeks of July?

Oh look there is @Drew the Disney Dude at the bottom over there with his camera pointed at the flume. Congrats Drew, you made it to the map!

Here's a larger view of the updated digital map:

That's my understanding as well, but will it work out in practice is anyone's guess!

They change the rules so often it's hard to keep up with. Passholders can enter any park after 2 PM except for Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays (which is why the June 16th date was withheld in the announcement). My understanding is that if you don't have any park reservations, you can enter MK after 2 PM but you won't be able to join the VQ until then. Otherwise, as long as you have a reservation for any of the four parks you can join the VQ right at 1 PM, regardless of where you are. Purely speculating because I also don't fully understand how it works, but I'd say plan to be inside a park before 1 PM regardless to maximize your chances. Assuming you can join the VQ after entering the park without a reservation, I doubt there would be any boarding groups left by then.

You definitely need a reservation to enter the VQ. My understanding is that you don’t need to have entered that park if you go to MK after 2pm on the weekday dates. But that part is ambiguous - it could be they’ve just quoted the standard wording for park reservations.

Very true, but luckily it'll be standby before too long and none of this will matter anymore.

Ok this is out of hand: If WDW veterans and aficionados can’t figure it out how in the world could a first timer or casual guest know??? Disney needs to clean up its act on this vq, reservation and lighting lane nonsense. Talk about making things harder for no good reason!!

I never got an alert there was a passholder preview of this ride and i just renewed my pass in march.

So this is what's confusing me. The first sentence implies you won't be able to enter a VQ without a reservation somewhere ("that day")...but then the last sentence indicates that during the week you won't need one. I'm very confused here.

@DCBaker , snap!

I don’t think you do. This is the relevant section from @DCBaker ’s post: First, make a park reservation to Magic Kingdom park on a preview date to have the opportunity to join the 7:00 AM virtual queue for that day. Or, you can make a park reservation to any theme park on a preview date to have the opportunity to join the 1:00 PM virtual queue. On the date of your reservation, request to join the virtual queue by using the My Disney Experience app. There will be 2 opportunities to join each day of previews. The 7:00 AM virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to Magic Kingdom park for that day. The 1:00 PM virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to any theme park for that day. As a reminder, Passholders must enter the theme park where they have a reservation prior to visiting Magic Kingdom park. Or, on June 13, 14, 17, 18 or 20, they can enter Magic Kingdom park without a reservation after 2:00 PM. Passholders do not need to have entered a theme park when they request to join the virtual queue. I read that as meaning if you wait until 2pm you could just go straight to MK and forget about your park reservation. Yes but you’d need to do it the other way round or you’d have zero chance with the VQ.

This is what Disney says: The 1 p.m. virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to any Theme Park for that day. As a reminder, Passholders must enter the theme park where they have a reservation prior to visiting Magic Kingdom Park. Or, on June 13, 14, 17, 18 or 20, they can enter Magic Kingdom Park without a reservation after 2 p.m.
