Disney has shared a first look at new costumes coming to Main Street, U.S.A Cast Members at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

The new costumes will be debuting soon. Disney says they keep function and comfort at the forefront of mind with lightweight, breathable fabric; they're also made from recyclable materials that help keep the environment in mind.

It usually takes a while when new costumes are launched to find your right fit. Disney sizes are always wildly inaccurate. Also when they are brand new it takes a few washes to lose their “boxiness”.

I thought this was the bigger problem, in the photo Disney supplied the two men on the left are wearing very similar costumes, the one in the green vest looks great, the one in the yellow looks a bit sloppy because it‘s too large and doesn’t fit him properly. The lady in the red shorts and the lady with the orange apron next to her highlight another advantage of tucking, it hides our bellies, they have similar builds but the lady with the tucked in shirt looks thinner because the tuck hides her curves. This is something I learned years ago when I started gaining weight. None of us are perfect so we take advantage of slimming tricks when we can, dark colors are typically my bellies best friend but in this case it shows how a white tucked in shirt can be more concealing than a dark untucked shirt.

There are multiple shirts though… the ones with the solid maroon do indeed look to be designed to be worn untucked - there was another one that I saw a photo of that didn’t look good untucked but maybe I just saw a particularly oversized one? To be clear - if it’s oversized I’m not blaming the CM especially on the first day - fits can be tricky to get right and while ideally Disney should make sure CM’s have proper fitting costumes, that doesn’t always happen these days.

Those shirts look to be designed to be worn untucked. The bottom is cut uniformly, most dress shirts aren't cut that way.

It’s also possible the ones I saw photos of are just way too big - either way some of them definitely looked sloppy, from my perspective.

Debatable. They design these new costumes to be worn a specific way(s). If untucked is an option, then technically the shirt was designed to be untucked. But that’s just my perspective.

Oh yeah, I’m not saying CM’s were doing anything wrong - just that the untuck options shouldn’t apply to dress shirts that weren’t designed to be worn untucked.

As @Unbanshee mentioned, it seems like it is an option. If it wasn’t (especially on launch day) leaders would’ve made corrections

Disney's press release shows that untucked is an option

That really shouldn’t apply to the dress shirts though. The blue shirts with the solid maroon stripe look like they were designed to be worn over sized and untucked - the standard blue dress shirts do not. That probably should be clarified in the rules for these specific costumes.

Most new outdoor costumes allow the cm to decide whether they want to tuck or not
